Members phkrause Posted July 9, 2012 Members Posted July 9, 2012 SHANE i am not sure that there is much difference dgrimm60 Why? Does Romney smoke and drink? I do agree though, what contrast, both are vying for the same job. One wants the others job and the other one wants to keep the job. Both tell untruths about the other, or at least spin the truth about what the real truth is to make the other look bad. One professes to be a godly person, while the other does no such thing! So who really is honest with us and himself? Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Members phkrause Posted July 9, 2012 Members Posted July 9, 2012 SHANE I will still be voting for a 3rd party candidate again this presidential election dgrimm60 Good for you dgrimm, always be true to what you believe and don't let anyone tell you that your vote is a waste. Its only a waste to those that have an agenda and want you to vote there way only. There are hateful, prejudiced people who cling to their guns and their religion in America. I'd agree with that and even preach that. Telling the truth about some Christians doesn't stop me from being a Christian. If Romney were a democrat I'm sure you'd question his Christianity. I don't think Mormonism is Christian but I think he's a follower of God based on seeing him on TV!!! That's a good measure, right? Dr. Shane Posted July 10, 2012 Author Posted July 10, 2012 The contrast I see is between two different forms of religion. Both claims to be Christian but whether their theology is Christian or not is academic as far as I am concerned. What I see is one form of Christianity that allows "anything". President Obama smokes, drinks and has said if one of his daughters makes a mistake "has sex before marriage" that he wants them to be able to have an abortion. In contrast to that is a religion that teaches temperance and responsibility. When Romney was a bishop of a Mormon church he tried to help a pregnant girl place her unborn child up for adoption. He attends church regularly and pays tithe. Regardless of what his theology, his religious practice shows us that he is a disciplined and principled man. That is not to say President Obama isn't disciplined or principled but rather that it is not so evident. His solution to saying the police acted stupidly was to call for a beer summit. I don't think Romney would say police act stupidly and I can't imagine him calling for a beer summit. We are faced with two distinct choices. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Moderators lazarus Posted July 10, 2012 Moderators Posted July 10, 2012 So Obama is the judge? Judge? He's expressing an opinion. You may not agree but that's what politicians do. Quote: Hate to break it to you but there are hateful, prejudiced people in all corners of the world. He wasn't running for president of the world. He was running for president of the USA. Moderators lazarus Posted July 10, 2012 Moderators Posted July 10, 2012 We are faced with two distinct choices. On a superficial level perhaps. Foreign policy will essentially be the same. American presidents in the last 50 years have engaged in pretty much the same approach to the world. The military/industrial complex is effective whichever party is in control Fiscal economic policy will be the same. Both parties support the banks and corporations at the expense of the American population. Jamie Diamond and Lloyd Blankfein will still get away with it. The national debt will continue to grow despite the rhetoric. The Patiot act will be renewed. Military Commissions act will not be repealed NDAA detention provisions will still be in effect. American citizens will still be assassinated abroad. Israel will still get it's $3billion Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence. Einstein

Dr. Shane Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 Foreign policy will essentially be the same... Fiscal economic policy will be the same. Both parties support the banks and corporations at the expense of the American population... The Patiot act will be renewed. Military Commissions act will not be repealed NDAA detention provisions will still be in effect. American citizens will still be assassinated abroad. Israel will still get it's $3billion I agree that those major parts of American policy will stay consistent. However there is a real difference on: Energy policy: Romney will fund alternative energy research and development while allowing American oil and coal companies to expand and create thousands of high-paying jobs. Taxes: President Obama believes that increasing the tax rate on the upper income will force business owners to invest in their companies and thus create jobs. Romeny believes that allowing upper-income earners to keep more of their income allows them to invest the income in investments which stimulate the economy. Both ideologies have some support from history however there are too many contributing factors to conclude if one is "right" and the other is "wrong". National Debt: Democrats do have a history of being tax and spend. While many credit Clinton for balancing the budget, it really happened by accident due to unforeseen revenues coming in from the dot-com boom of the 1990s and even then, it was the Congressional Republicans that battled with Clinton for budget cuts that actually led to a government shutdown. Clinton passed one of the largest tax increases in recent history and let's not forget the big one - Clinton is the one that started making retirees pay taxes on their Social Security. Reagan did run up the debt while in office but he did it with the Congressional Democrats. Reagan wanted to build up the military in order to win the Cold War and the Democrats would only go along with him if he would sign a lot of pork barrel spending. Reagan got his military and won the Cold War and the Democrats got their pork-barrel spending. President George W. Bush actually had the deficit declining for his last three years in office. His last fiscal year it got out of control and Obama was in office for a little more than half of that year. Some of President Obama's monthly deficits have been higher than some of President Bush's yearly deficits. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Moderators lazarus Posted July 11, 2012 Moderators Posted July 11, 2012 Shane, I think your last post proves my point. I'm not saying there are no differences. Any reasonable person would have to agree that there are but they are less substantive than the red and blue team would have us believe. The rhetoric is very different but the impact of they policy differences are minimal. Take the Keystone pipeline for example. The main bidder only claims that 20,000 jobs would be created. Rhetorically there is a big difference in approach but the practical impact on the economy is small. On Taxes. Could it be that even though there is a lot of heat around taxes, taxes come much further down the list of factors that impact the economy than the red team and blue team would like us to believe. Both parties have been deceptive when it comes to spending. Dems love domestic and GOP love defense. Both parties have led the US to a place where the debt cannot be paid back without a devaluation or a default. They will pretend otherwise but that's the truth. The left right paradigm is destroying America. Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. bonnie Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Gun clinging, Bible clinging and prejudiced "Christians" of course are not. That's obvious. Some people do equate the rights to own guns and to cling to their bibles as prejudiced but many of us don't. People that want the right to own guns do not typically want to "play shootout at the OK Corral" at every opportunity. Nor do they want only the government and criminals with that right.Criminals will always have them no matter what the law. As for clinging to their bibles when all is said and done the message and hope within those pages is all we will have left. Anyone that wants to ridicule or condemn those that cling to that have little to say to me that is worth listening to Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's unfortunate that the US is at a place where it doesn't matter who is elected that person is to the other side the personification the worst of America. The rearing of our sons and the values we hoped to instill in them didn't have anything to do with the "demonisation process that happens in American politics".It had everything to do with the men we hoped they would become. There were SDA's that we did not want to have unrestricted influence on them. We were careful with their close associations. They were not raised and influenced by communist/marxist/socialist mentors. Obama was. That was not his choosing as a child,as an adult it is his chooosing. I would not allow anyone that associated with thugs as Ayers to influence them,or near them as young boys. Those that lied as easily as they breathed were also kept at a distance. Obama does.Forget the big stuff,he can't tell the truth about his own mother,he can't convince the american people of his ideology without lies about himself or those he claims are "helpless victims" Most people do not view alcohol in moderation as a problem.HIs "little beer summit" after weighing in on a topic he admitted to lacking any knowledge was not what most expect of a president of the US. Objection to those that behave and live/believe as Obama was in place long before any of us ever heard of Obama. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make.
