Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted July 7, 2012 Members Posted July 7, 2012 I'm very interested in genealogy - working on mine, as well as others. So, yesterday I got the results of my DNA test!!! How cool!!!! It lists the percentages of DNA that correspond to various parts of the world. And it also gives me a list of other persons who have taken the test and have matching DNA sequences, and lists their family trees. 83% Western European - Orcadian (Scottish, Irish, Norwegian/Viking), Basque, French, Spanish; 7% Tuscan & Sardinian (ancient Romans); and 10% Middle Eastern Jewish (the ancient Jewish lines) Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. Administrators Naomi Posted July 7, 2012 Administrators Posted July 7, 2012 Very interesting Pam. Where did you have your test? Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted July 7, 2012 Author Members Posted July 7, 2012 I did mine at www.FamilyTreeDNA.com They have a number of tests one can take. My family decided to gift me the "Family Finder" test. It shows results for both paternal and maternal lines. I found out about the testing at ancestry.com They have a Y-DNA test for men only, which would show the paternal lineage only. And an mtDNA that gives maternal lineage, which both men and women can take. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. Gordon1 Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Fascinating. One can imagine the single sites stepping up to the plate for this service. Quote
Members phkrause Posted July 7, 2012 Members Posted July 7, 2012 Very Pam, especially the Jewish part. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Gordon1 Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Since we all originate from Noah's ark, it still raises questions. Modern geneticists may not share that historical perspective. Quote
