cricket Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Bravus, I think there are a number of "vegetarianism" beliefs that would be considered counter to the Christian life. I know Wikipedia isn't a great source, but see: Vegetarianism and religion Quote
Moderators lazarus Posted July 17, 2012 Moderators Posted July 17, 2012 I don't think we should dismiss this so readily. Whenever I eat Nutoline I have a rapid out-of-body experience !!! Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence. Einstein
LifeHiscost Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Perhaps the way some people practice eating vegetarian might leave something to be desired. However the solution for that doesn't seem to me to be best served by eating or drinking that which causes innumerable problems of ill health, often leading to an untimely death. Comparison between vegetarians and those who use animals for food is statistically in favor of vegetarian habits leading to better quality of life and extended years of useful living. To label vegetarian lifestyle among the underworld is akin to seeing the eating of fruit as a practice of evil since Eve lost her innocence by the act of eating a fruit. God blesses! cricket Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 That's why you have to know what they're talking about when you see them put the word "vegetarianism" in that list of doorways to demonic possession. I really don't think the people that made that list are condemning the practice of eating a healthy diet--I think they're condemning the practice of eating a vegetarian diet because of animal worship/beliefs in reincarnation that are often associated with vegetarianism. Look up Jain Vegetarianism sometime. You'll see what I'm talking about. Quote

Planey Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I counted 8 for myself. I considered lycanthropy recently (I am hairy enough...) but after due thought - Nah. Graeme Quote Graeme____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Neil D Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 explain to me the connection of these beliefs to vegetarianism? Remember, moderation in all things... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw

LifeHiscost Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Quote: "Actually I am kind of mocking that any of those things can lead to possession." That seems to me to be a reasonable explanation. Sounds similar to this mocking. " God said, ‘You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die.’” “You won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman. “God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.”" Genesis 3:4,5 NLV God blesses! Planey Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 LHC, are you saying that casting nasturtiums at this ridiculous over-the-top man-made list is on a par with contradicting the direct word of God? M. T. Cross Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 This list to me seems to be a lot like saying "Candyman" three times in a mirror and other like things. All meant to scare children. Quote

I agree LHC!!! There was this preacher when I was a kid that did the most terrifying Revelations based sermon I have ever heard.
