Some history of the environmentalist world war.

• 1798: Anglican minister Rev. Thomas Robert Malthus publishes An Essay on the Principle of Population, arguing that population grows exponentially (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, …), while resource supplies only increase arithmetically (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12), making great population collapses through famine inevitable unless prevented by war or disease. The book incites fear of overpopulation and depletion of resources, undermines belief in man as producer, and portrays him only as consumer.

• 1859: Charles Darwin, building on Malthus’s thought, publishes On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of the Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life, undermining belief in the sanctity and uniqueness of human life as bearing the image of God and feeding belief in better (“favoured”) and worse races pitted against each other in competition for survival of the “fittest.”

• 1883, Francis Galton, building on both Malthus and Darwin, publishes Inquiries into Human Faculty and Its Development, launching the eugenics movement as a means for higher races (the “fit”) to weed out lower ones (the “unfit”) in order to reduce the strain on resources without the two preventives Malthus envisioned, war and famine. This spawns the population control movement, imposed by colonial powers on their colonies, the peoples of whom are Black, Yellow, Brown, and Red (the supposedly “lower” races), not White Europeans (the alleged “highest” race of humans).

• 1890s–1930s, Progressives like Margaret Sanger (founder of what became Planned Parenthood), embracing Malthusianism, Darwinism, and eugenics, launch the sexual revolution of the 1910s–1920s (“roaring 20s”), advocating contraception and abortion to limit population growth among the “unfit”—who turn out to be non-White-Europeans. Their efforts lead to government “family planning” programs in the colonial world, including incentivized or coerced sterilization and abortion and the intentional promotion of, or refusal to alleviate, famines, especially in India, other parts of Asia, and Africa.

• 1920s–1950s: Darwinian naturalist Secular Humanists become strong enough to challenge America’s dominant Christian culture, conquering public education by the 1960s, with minor and unsuccessful counterattacks by Scientific Creationists in the 1980s and Intelligent Design advocates in the 2000s, undermining belief that human beings are the image of God with a God-given right to life, liberty, and property.

• 1950s–1970s: The Progressives’ sexual revolution, put on hold by the hardships of the Great Depression and World War II, revives and, aided by new contraceptive technologies that promise unfettered sexual pleasure without consequences, becomes dominant by the seventies, with serious destructive effects on marriage, family, and broader society.

• 1962: Rachel Carson publishes Silent Spring, predicated on Malthusian and Darwinian foundations, launching the preservationist movement and a long series of mostly pseudo-scientific or exaggerated ecological fears that come to dominate the environmental movement and, by the 2000s, American society as a whole. One consequence of Silent Spring was the banning of DDT by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency—despite its own scientific studies having shown the chemical was safe to humans and the environment—and the consequent requirement that countries receiving U.S. foreign aid ban it as well, leading to about 2 million deaths every year in poor countries of Africa, Asia, and Latin America, a result that some environmentalists welcome as reducing overpopulation (though population density in most afflicted countries is lower than in most European countries).

• 1990s–2010s: The environmental movement grows to world prominence, especially with the U.N.’s Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro (1992) and the founding of the Earth Charter, the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol; the growth of the animal rights, plant rights, and ecosystem rights movements (variations on biological egalitarianism); and increasing calls for global governance to overcome supposedly global environmental crises, especially global warming.

Rejoice always,

brother G

So many untruths and distortions in so little space.

By 'races', Darwin meant 'species'. On that misunderstanding, and many, many others is this house of cards built.

'Silent Spring' is about pollution, not over-population.

And so on.

Wow....I knew that you disliked the environmental movement, but I didn't know just how far you would go to show your dislike...You actually saught out the HISTORY of the environmental movement...and now, according to our esteemed learned professor, you posted an erroneous history....

that is just sick.....I suggest you get some help for your hatred/sickness.....

Me too _cough, cough_, I need some of what you suggest. Make it aged and 86 proof if'n yous got it.

News Alert! Lower and higher altitude glaciers advancing in Alaska, Greenland, Himalayas, and New Zealand (which, last I checked, ain not that far from El Nino)...

What!?--wha's that say? --Pogo

"Silent Spring" may have purported being about pollution, but it shur-nuff quickly sidled to population decimation (save mother Gaia!) - some millions per annum dying by malarial fever (no mas the DDT).

Whereas, according to "Renaissance America" - the earth ought to sustain a population of upwards - 45 billion. No needs for immediate genocidal programs - 'cepting, mebbe some of that 100 proof Genocide for the elites, so-called... who be wantin' an 'earth-sustaining' population of 500 million, no mas.

Whoo-whee! Bring out the calliope!--and thems clowns...! bwink

Robert Felix, author of the Ice Age Now site linked, does not provide any links to actual science or evidence, just links to his own assertions. Not what I'd call 'evidence': what I'd call 'claims in strong need of evidence'.

Another Wave Of Climate Refugees

"This is just what they warned us about. Global warming is forcing people to move south to warmer climates.

Cold Winter and Summer Have Some Ready to Leave Alaska

After record-breaking winter, cool summer is a bummer

ANCHORAGE – After a record-breaking winter, we are now headed for one of the coldest months of July on record.

And it has some Alaskans thinking it may be time to leave the great land.

By Alaska summer standards, it’s been a pretty cool and gloomy start to the beginning of July.

The temps may be setting records, but it’s not the first summer that’s been less than sunny – and some people say they’ve had enough.

Re Durango Bill: Well, not to take anything away from Durango Bill, but the Otago Daily Times (onsite, New Zealand) seems to take issue with him. Seems the most that anyone may say is that by and large some retreat whilst others advance - and yet others individually both ebb and flow.

Durango Bill himself equivocates, "...there are minor advances that occur from time to time. If you get a year or two of abnormally heavy snowfall, then the extra mass will cause the Franz Josef or any other glacier to advance for a few years." Okay, safe to say - in that all ice has more or less retreated since the ice ages large and small...

What I said on this thread was, "Lower and higher altitude glaciers advancing in Alaska, Greenland, Himalayas, and New Zealand ...) No climatic assertion was made, as I believe the entire solar system, indeed, our entire wing of the galactic spiral is experiencing fluctuations of a sort, which will only increase causing untold harm to mankind.

Re Alaska: "Hubbard Glacier, North America’s largest tidewater glacier, located near Yakutat, Alaska, is one such exception. It is currently in a state of advancement that threatens resources important to the Alaska community of Yakutat." --Project Formulator, United States Army Corps of Engineers, Elmendorf AFB, AK

Re Greenland: "Before it was retired on July 6, ESA’s ERS-2 Earth observation satellite was moved into an orbit that would allow it to take images of the same area on the ground every three days; [...] The satellite watched the Kangerdlugssuaq glacier (Eastern Greenland:jasd), and took images from March to May, 2011, showing the glacier’s ice stream advancing 35 metres per day." --European Space Agency

Re the Himalayas: "Perched on the soaring Karakoram mountains in the Western Himalayas, a group of some 230 glaciers are bucking the global warming trend. They’re growing. [...] Among legendary peaks of Mt. Everest like K2 and Nanga Parbat, glaciers with a penthouse view of the world are growing, and have been for almost three decades." --Discovery

Re the Fox glacier, New Zealand: "In January 2009, the terminal face of the glacier was still advancing and had vertical or overhanging faces which were continually collapsing." --Otago Daily Times, NZPA (on site observation)

(Ain not January in New Zealand a Summer month?--like meltingly hot?)

1. The Franz Josef

2. The Tasman Glacier

3. Mt. Rainier’s Nisqually

4. North Cascade Glacier

5. Norway’s Briksdal Glacier

6. Norway's Engabreen Glacier

That's it? Six mentions, not altogether accurate, and Durango Bill labels Robert Felix a "pathological liar"?--and a, wait-a-sec, "former architect!" Oh my! a "former architect". Really! :)

We had snow here in Eugene, OR - a few weeks ago. Not much, but snow...

Went by the feed store today to buy scratch and whole corn for my fowl. The parking lot was full with many pick-ups filled with sacks of grain (low on their springs). Sadly, the store was sold out - not knowing when to expect more in or what prices they'll be charging - lot$ more for $ure.

But that's just my chickens, ducks, and geese. I'll enjoy them crackling fried as well cackling and squawking. BUT WHAT OF...

peoples should hellation arrive soonest or sooner? :(

We were in Norway last year, the Jostedal Glacier is advancing quite nicely.

Also reports the venerable UK Telegraph "Himalayan glaciers growing despite claims of global warming.."

Last month in June, I went thru my ol' stomping grounds of Redding California....and looked at Mt Lassen and Mt Shasta...two mountains that have rather sizeable snow packs during the months of June....as I recall from my youth....

this year, I could see bare spots that were once covered with snow. Locals that I talked with assured me that those snow packs were getting quite smaller...as they don't remember bare spots as youngsters...

This personal evidence co-insides with the warning that scientists are putting out...We are in the midst of a global warming.....

Your evidence, Olger, doesn't dove tail with scientific research...You are on the wrong side of the arguement, Olger...

Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve.

All three of of our anecdotes are just anecdotes.

May faith in Christ overrule our fears. The only thing man-made about Global Warming is the alarmist paranoia.
