Moderators Nan Posted July 20, 2012 Moderators Posted July 20, 2012 Later this year my husband and I, with friends who live in WA will be driving the coast from Seattle to northern California, after a quick trip to the Olympic Peninsula. Any suggestions on places to visit, near the coast? I have a to-do list of course, but would be interested in any more local information. Quote
nuff sed Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Sammy would, probably, enjoy visiting Pastors Hall and Ortner in Sweet Home, Oregon if it is not out of your way... They were in Kuching when we were all there... Nuff Sed Quote
Moderators Nan Posted July 21, 2012 Author Moderators Posted July 21, 2012 Thanks will check it out...sorry we will not get further east or south Quote
Neil D Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Do you know your itinerary? What route are you taking from Seattle to .....what city in Northern California? And what is the time you are going? August? September? October? November? December? If we are to meet,[and I am assuming that you would like to], I need a to know approximately when you will be around the Coos Bay Oregon area..... Moderators LynnDel Posted July 21, 2012 Moderators Posted July 21, 2012 Maybe I could meet w/you too! We could have a small CA meet on the Mendocino coast, or Bodega, or Point Reyes, or the Golden Gate, or Carmel, or Monterey, I can do any of those. LD Quote LD
Moderators LynnDel Posted July 21, 2012 Moderators Posted July 21, 2012 All those places I listed are suggestions for sightseers, but if you're not going south that far, there is Crescent City and all the magnificent Redwood Parks (not forgetting the Armstrong Woods near Guerneville, CA), or up there in the wilds of Oregon (also known as God's Country), there is Brookings. Somewhere along the line, a ride on a huge raft (or was it a boat? I don't remember) down the Rogue River is a great experience. Glimpses of wildlife, etc. If you are thinking you might do the Skunk Train (skunktrain.com) - near Fort Bragg and Willits, I would LOVE to tag along! I've never done it and need company for a trip like that. LD Quote LD

Moderators Nan Posted July 22, 2012 Author Moderators Posted July 22, 2012 I was in BC a few years ago EC..saw a number of the local sights, and managed to meet Stan and Gail and Russ. Quote
Moderators Nan Posted July 22, 2012 Author Moderators Posted July 22, 2012 LynnDel, I need to check out some of your suggestions, but the plan was to get just far enough into California to see the northenmost redwoods. I would love to get to Monterey, there is a good aquarium there I have heard, but at this stage probably will not happen. Quote
Woody Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Shore Acres near Neil. And the Redwoods in Northern California. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
