Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted July 21, 2012 Administrators Posted July 21, 2012 A commentary on Adventist preaching of "The Laodicean Message." http://www.liberaladventist.blogspot.com/2012/07/168-years-of-spanking-is-enough.html#links Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

Moderators Gerr Posted July 21, 2012 Moderators Posted July 21, 2012 What the writer is describing is one extreme, but what message is he going to preach now? Go the other extreme and preach the gospel according to Schuler? I remember a story related by a former editor of the Review. He said he read the SOP which said, "You are eating too much sweets." So he cut his consumption of sweets in half. Sometime later he read it again, "you are eating too much sweets." So he cut his consumption in half again. After some time, he came across the same statement again, and it still said the same thing! Quote
Overaged Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Good point Gerry; the author of this article does a poor "interpretation" of Rev 3:10. Taking away the accuracy of scripture with such paraphrasing does not lead to an accurate or helpful message. Quote "People [rarely] see...the bright light which is in the clouds..." (Job 37:21)"I cannot know why suddenly the stormshould rage so fiercely round me in it's wrathBut this I know: God watches all my pathAnd I can trust""God helps us to draw strength from the storm" - OveragedFaith makes things possible; it does not make them easy, Steps To Christ
