Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted August 9, 2012 Administrators Posted August 9, 2012 As posted on Facebook-- "I really believe that the groundswell we've seen in recent weeks toward women's ordination IS the Holy Spirit's answer to pleas for revival & reformation, & that as such it will not be stopped." Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)
CoAspen Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 After reading the article in the review about asking the other conferences to not follow the Columbia Union in interest of world wide unity, was that no mention was alluded to or said, that the WO was wrong. The appeal was totaly to 'unity'. That concerned me, in that unity has now, perhaps, become the rallying cry for these times. That seems to suggest a static position in all matters of belief rather than an on going dynamic focus on the gospel. Is this what the GC is going to become, a proponet of unity rather than message? Time will tell. Quote

Time will tell. Unity or uniformity? While some believe this president will 'shape up' the church according to their definition, externals as opposed to internals, others feel a growing alarm that we are heading towards a pope in the church. I guess if the first group get their way the second groups' fears are most assuredly well-founded. As I asked on a certain mailing list, have we degenerated into a Sabbath only position in presenting the 1260 days, to the neglect of principles? As long as we keep the Sabbath, manipulation (which includes brainwashing), coercion, and force are perfectly fine? Do our people even know know what those tactics are when they see them, and that they are the tactics of the enemy in the controversy between Christ and Satan? Why shouldn't converts feel 'betrayed' if we are not upfront in our position, or if that position has been lost over the years except to a relative minority? Well, for sure it is a 'shaking', with both sides feeling they are the 'right' one. I would remind all of us, it has to do with character. The only ones left standing will be those who have developed the right character, whether that will end up inside or outside the '.org'. Developing character is sooooooo much harder than having a position and defending that one at all costs. Which raises an interesting question to me. If the '.org.' gives into the Sunday law when it comes to pass will it change its name, or try to convince its members that Sunday is really the Sabbath as it is doing in Tonga and Samoa? Just exactly what will happen? Different topic altogether. Quote facebook. /teresa.quintero.790
teresaq Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Would this be applicable? Quote: It will be impossible to adjust all matters regarding the color question in accordance with the Lord’s order until those who believe the truth are so closely united with Christ that they are one with Him. Both the white and the colored members of our churches need to be converted. There are some of both classes who are unreasonable, and when the color question is agitated, they manifest unsanctified, unconverted traits of character. Quarrelsome elements are easily aroused in those who, because they have never learned to wear the yoke of Christ, are opinionated and obstinate. In such, self clamors with an unsanctified determination for the supremacy. {Mar 142.3} Substituting 'gender', 'male' and 'female'? Quote facebook. /teresa.quintero.790

Gibs Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Well you all who are so concerned over ordination of women. I don't care in the least who men claim to ordain. That carries no weight with me. I know very quickly if the one speaking is ordained of God of whom only it matters. Just as the wisdom of men is nothing. All true wisdom comes from Him, He only is the fountain and foundation of truth and wisdom. He gives that to us from His Word and by His Spirit and His Redeemer given to us. This subject need not even be aired! 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ
Woody Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Our prophet stood up in opposition to how poorly the church was treating women. I think we should do the same. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
teresaq Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 This subject need not even be aired! This thought would not be related to the censoring of free speech and thought would it? We all know who is behind that idea, right? :) Quote facebook. /teresa.quintero.790
