Life has been even more hectic than usual.

As I read the Spirit of prophecy:

"We have no time to lose. Troublous times are before us. The world is stirred with the spirit of war. Soon the scenes of trouble spoken of in the prophecies will take place. The prophecy in the eleventh of Daniel has nearly reached its complete fulfillment. Much of the history that has taken place in fulfillment of this prophecy will be repeated. In the thirtieth verse a power is spoken of that "shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant." [Verses 31-36, quoted.] {13MR 394.1}

Daniel uses the expand and explain method of narration. After he writes the events in verses 31-36, he tells what led up to that point in his narration that follows. Thus in the heart of his explanation, he states: "Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps" verse 43. (In his steps, means to follow him.)

"Even the prophets who were favored with the special illumination of the Spirit, did not fully comprehend the import of the revelations committed to them. The meaning was to be unfolded, from age to age, as the people of God should need the instruction therein contained." {GC88 344.1}

"From age to age He has raised up men and qualified them to do a special work needed in their time. But to none of these did He commit all the light which was to be given to the world. Wisdom does not die with them." {4SP 186.1}

"The prophecies of Daniel and of John are to be understood. They interpret each other. They give to the world truths which every one should understand. These prophecies are to be witnesses in the world. By their fulfillment in these last days they will explain themselves." {7BC 949.6}

Egypt's dictator of 30+years was deposed, removed from office and sentenced to life in prison after the Arab Spring of 2011. Shortly after that Libya's dictator of 30+ years was killed in a gun fight. And most recently, "Then quite suddenly and unexpectedly, Meles Zenawi Asres, the 20-year dictator of Ethiopia, died 20 August 2012. Like the rulers of Egypt and Libya who had so recently been removed from power, he had been “accused of political repression and various human rights abuses.” But the fact is that this prophecy written 2600-years before the events (give or take a few centuries according to skeptics) gives the exact sequencing: Egypt, Libya, and Ethiopia following in the path of democracy! Fulfilled as predicted!

And as Ellen White has prophesied, Daniel and Revelation are now explaining themselves by their fulfillment.

"We have no time to lose. Troublous times are before us... Let all read and understand the prophecies of this book [Daniel], for we are now entering upon the time of trouble spoken of: [Daniel 12:1-4, quoted .]" {13MR 394.2}

The ebook that Richard graciously mentioned is a verse by verse study of Daniel. It is different than most studies on Daniel in that it links the current events to Daniel's prophecy in the verse by verse study.

But it is no longer being offered at $2.99. As a starving writer (3 copies a month [give or take a few] does not pay for my food, lights, internet, rent, Christian education for my college, academy, or elementary age children or even the gas in my tank). To put it in focus: Our college age daughter has 3 months to go in her Christian education and all of her funds have been used up - she attends by faith; We are home schooling our academy age girl. And our elementary girl is still in SDA church school, by the blessings of the local church that supplements her tuition.

It is amazing how God works.

A few days ago my daughter put her phone on to charge and forgot to plug it in. When she discovered her mistake and corrected it, she learned that she had missed an important call from the college.

"You must be at the financial aide office by (date given) to remain in school."

The message was three days old, when she got it. This was the last day - the day of the deadline. They close at 11:45 and do not reopen until 2:00 PM.

She had just got off work and her classes that day were from 2 - 5 PM.

She rushed to the office. It was 11:55. They gave her an appointment. She took her seat. The next person to walk in was told, "I'm sorry. You will have to come back at 2."

My daughter got to see the department head. They reviewed her situation, but even though her financial shortcomings were not resolved, he stated that he was taking her off the list. She did not have a clue what that meant. What she did understand was that she owed $4,500.00 to pay for the classes she needed to graduate in December. Her financing had been used up. She had been misinformed by her counselor to take 4 classes that she did not need and now she needed 4 classes to graduate and did not have any money.

She continued to follow through with that department to make financial arrangements. But in a subsequent meeting with a clerk, the clerk said, "I don't see your name on the list." (the list of those that cannot graduate until arrangements are finalized for their bill.)

My daughter replied, he said something about taking me off the list. The clerk was shocked. She double checked the master list. Sure enough my daughter's name had been officially removed. She can graduate in December. And in the meantime she is working on the problems that arose from being misguided by counselors that should have known better.

But since God worked this out so far, we have every confidence that He will work it out all the way through.

Now my daughter who has often wondered why God has blessed others and not been so active in her situation, has a totally different outlook. What He did for her means that she can graduate. The money issue is off the table if it does not get taken care of now, she can pay it after graduation. That is a blessing that she takes personal because she personally knows of others that have not been so blessed.

So as I study and write about the Third Angel's Message, and I wonder how I will pay to keep the lights on and the internet connection, I am reminded that it is not dependent on me or others joining together to get the word out. It is a God thing. He has said that His word will not return to Him void. And He is able to make it happen! Hallelujah!

Being a preterist, I largely disagree with any interpretation of Daniel that does not relate those prophesies to events current to the relevant time, i.e.,circa 170 BC - 150 BC, largely concerning Antiochus IV Epiphanes. The statement is made that much of the prophecy has taken place, but that fulfillment will be repeated. As far as the prophecy of Daniel, you are challenged to show Scripture indicating both the ancient and modern fulfillment of the prophecies of Daniel.

The meaning was to be unfolded, from age to age, as the people of God should need the instruction therein contained." {GC88 344.1}---

I don't think so:

Dan 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

The prophecies were to be fulfilled once, at the time of the end, that time of the end meaning when Antiochus' desecration that makes desolate is being purified.

"The prophecies of Daniel and of John are to be understood. --- By their fulfillment in these last days they will explain themselves." {7BC 949.6}---

And as Ellen White has prophesied, Daniel and Revelation are now explaining themselves by their fulfillment.---

Again, I most emphatically disagree. These prophesies were fulfilled by events of the Hellenistic Empire age and the Roman Empire age.
