Have you ever wondered about our pious appetite for contradictions? A national disaster strikes. One preacher attributes it to God’s anger over the nation’s godlessness, and we agree heartily. Another preacher assures us that such disasters are never acts of God, for God is never destructive or malicious, nor is he the author of confusion. And he gets the same hearty response from the same congregation. One preacher warns of the serious consequences for partaking of the Lord’s supper unworthily, there’s hardly a believer present who doesn’t share his concern. Another declares that no one should decline to partake because of some feeling of unworthiness, for none of us can ever be worthy. That’s so absolutely true, we say...Read More...

Yes - there are many religious traditions that are more motivational myth rather than truth filled.

I have to confess that I go along with them due to peer pressure in the Christian realm.

Sometimes one has to just go with the flow rather than rock the boat. Choose your battles wisely. :)

Is that the historical or prophetic view of Jesus' disciples?

"...and we sent Timothy to visit you. He is our brother and God’s co-worker in proclaiming the Good News of Christ. We sent him to strengthen you, to encourage you in your faith, and to keep you from being shaken by the troubles you were going through. But you know that we are destined for such troubles. Even while we were with you, we warned you that troubles would soon come"1 Thessalonians 3:2-4 NLT

God blesses! peace

So, have you made up your mind? Who is responsible for disaster, and who is behind blessings?

Good question Gerry. My take is that are we asking these questions to stir up controversy among believers or are we really concerned about where the church as a whole is headed!
