HEAVEN OPEN TO EVERYONE, SAYS POPE

By Bruce Johnston in Rome

THE Pope has amended a Vatican pronouncement that the Roman Catholic Church was the "only way to salvation", saying that Heaven is open to all as long as they are good. He said at an audience that "all of the just on Earth, including those who ignore Christ and his Church" were "called upon to build the kingdom of God". -Electronic Telegraph (Posted on www.telegraph.co.uk) ISSUE 2023 Friday 8 December 2000

"There is none good, but one - that is, God." Matt 19:17

Like I have repeatedly stated...the Roman Catholic Church is the mother of legalism....Self-righteousness abounds.

Please note the date on the original news story: this is olds rather than news... Not diminishing it, just saying it was John Paul II, Not Benedict XVI, who said that...

Which only serves to show that it really is later than most believe.

Time is short.

Benedict XVI has only been pope for a few weeks. JP II was the most recent pope before him. So while this may not be "new" it isn't that ancient either. It was during the last pope's term which ended only this year.

Yep... and if you read carefully the papabilia writings prior to JPII's death, Razinger has been a front runner because of his strongly held beliefs that were similar to those of JPII. Including being the Grand Inquisitor of the Office of the Inquisition... although they have changed it's name to Protector of Catholic Doctrine or something like that...

So this is something that can be expected and with a fair degree of safety assumed to be Benedict's belief as well.
