If we feel that an individual is being lead by the Spirit - should we expect new information? OR - should all of it be tested by scripture.?

Personally - it seems to me that we have FAR enough information in scripture that in our lifetime - we will never fully understand.

So - why would we need more?

Perhaps we could use a cheerleader to encourage us to continue in the path of Jesus. But to give us NEW info - please - no thank you.

May we be one so that the world may be won.

I don't know... how does it work for you?

Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

All things must be tested by the scriptures. But don't take "being led of the Spirit" of God a bad thing. We must be led of His Spirit when we go to His Word as so much is Spiritually discerned.

Here is Paul's statement on this,

1Co 2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

1Co 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

1Co 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

1Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

1Co 2:15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

1Co 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Yes, "Christ in you the hope of Glory" Paul also states.

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

I don't know that the Spirit would give us "new information". IMO he may give us a deeper look into things that have been closed to our understanding(e.g., the Book of Daniel was "closed" by order of God until the end times); and/or He might clarify things in scripture that we have misunderstood or ignored. My personal experience with the Holy Spirit has been with the latter. Verses I previously read in the Bible that I just skipped over in the past as irrelevant to me or plain gibberish all of a sudden jump out at me in perfect clarity, stimulating much spiritual growth. At other times, verses that scared the hell out of me(literally - like Hebrews 6:4-6 and 10:26-31) now give me great comfort - understanding that they refer to fully accepting the sacrifice of Jesus as the complete and all encompassing penalty paid for all sin (which is the theme of the Book of Hebrews).

I do not find in Scripture that those who are led by the HS necessarily has new information. What I do find is that those who are led by the HS are not the same persons they were before.

There will not be new information but, more light on what we already have and since we are to test things according to the Law and the testimony then that shows any new light must agree with what is already revealed. The SDA church when it formed did not come up with any different info but re-discovered what was already there and we have received more info into those truths that were re-discovered.

Galatians 3:29

(29) And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

What I was saying was that we have all that we need.

I agree with that we have plenty of info.

I am increasingly that the the work of the Holy Spirit is not as educator, but motivator.

It is as if sin has left us all with severe Spiritual Attention Deficit Disorder... SADD, isn't it! A major function of the Holy Spirit is to act as Ritalin for the soul. (And for those of us who understand and benefit from the similar psychopharmacological dynamics, caffeine for the soul...)

"Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good."

"Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal."

"I love God only as much as the person I love the least."

*Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth.

(And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

He must also be invited into a cleaned house, soul temple for Him to dwell in! A first priority.
