Administrators Naomi Posted September 10, 2012 Administrators Posted September 10, 2012 Perhaps you are correct Stan ... yet, I submit, that also many who are very vocal for Women's Ordinatioin also rarely, if every, attend a SDA church. For the sake of discussion, I rarely hear any discussion from the average regular members concerning this issue. Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted September 10, 2012 Administrators Posted September 10, 2012 I am not so sure that one can say either case is true in all, or even most, cases. What I have observed is that the POV of most members is largely colored by their own direct personal experience with women pastors/elders. Those that have had very little, if any, exposure to women in ministry are less likely to be strongly in favor of ordaining women. Those that have been in a church with a female pastor are much more likely to be supportive of ordaining women. Not everybody, of course, but that seems fairly typical. And to some extent that is consistent with what Stan suggested. Those in the know from experience and being actively involved are in a better position to make the call on the issue. If one is outside the circle where it is relevant one really is not sufficiently well informed or experienced to have much credibility. But the primary point underlying Stan's observation is one that I have noted on a wide variety of issues. Very often, those with the least amount of information and experience regarding the matter at hand tend to have the strongest and most vocal opinions about it. Not always, but quite frequently those who say the most often really know the least or seem to want to argue about it the most. Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

doug yowell Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 By the way, I've noticed that there is NO TIME allowed for editing my posts today. I read them immediately after posting them and when I see a mistake I click on the edit button and am greeted by the time has expired message. Since this occurs within less than a minute I'm wondering what's up with that? Is something broken downtown? Quote

Gordon1 Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 It seems to me that the people who are most vocal about not ordaining females are those who rarely if ever go to the Adventist Church? Perhaps I am wrong. I've heard numerous women preaching in SDA churches, but in each case there was a stark departure from Biblical & Adventist doctrine. Typically there is a lot of "I" and discussion about "me" - a lack of reserve, Bible truth and present day awareness. Bring on the prophets, male or female. They'll carry a message from God, as did EGW. It will be seen in their words, actions and concern for the eternal destiny of fellow pilgrims. Quote
Administrators Gail Posted September 10, 2012 Administrators Posted September 10, 2012 The policy is different from the software glitches we've been experiencing. Just got over another one and are catching up. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Administrators Gail Posted September 10, 2012 Administrators Posted September 10, 2012 When things are working smoothly, do you know the allowable edit time? They vary from forum to forum. Let me go and I'll set, say, 20 minutes for this one. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted September 10, 2012 Administrators Posted September 10, 2012 Edit time was already set. Either someone has done it or there are still glitches. Sorry... Gordon1 Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 It seems to me that the people who are most vocal about not ordaining females are those who rarely if ever go to the Adventist Church? Perhaps I am wrong. Stan, the 'sermons' I have heard by women invariably made a convincing case for not ordaining women to the pulpit, always a reminder of God's message "Let your women keep silence in the churches.." (1 Corinthians 14:34) "Let all things be done decently and in order." (verse 40) Women certainly have a great role to play in God's work, it's just that leading men is not one of them. "But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is the man, and the head of Christ is God." (1 Corinthians 11:3) God is not against women, as some may charge. Many things are broken in Adventism today, the solution is not to break more things, but to go back to where we last saw the light, and walk in obedience. Repent and reform is the message to Laodicea. Quote

And I will say the opposite, the ones I have heard have been very powerful sermons, full of the gospel and strong on the desire to see Gods work finished.....and based on the Bible!!!!! Quote
