Neil D Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 When we say "Hi. It's great to see you" to someone, we brighten their day a bit. Good stuff. Depends... Are you on the giving side of that sentence or recieving that sentence .if you are giving that sentence and they are busy, it's like water off a ducks back...if they are" depressed, feeling insignificant", then yeah, you are probably reaching them....not always,, but the chances are greater if you reach out to them ...like if you ask them out to lunch,[ or coffee if you aren't sure you want to spend that much time with someone].... But if you are on the RECIEVING end of these comments, depending where you are at, can be a boon to your day or at least, ease your depression abit. And who knows, if you accept that offer of coffee, you JUST MIGHT make another friend to your arsenal of friends... Stan Posted September 13, 2012 Author Posted September 13, 2012 When People say or I say "Have a nice day" too often view those as occupying nothing more than time and space. When I say to a clerk "I really appreciate how friendly you always are" it helps them, I have said that to people that are not friendly, but they sure were to others after that. In their old age, they will tell their grandchildren. "Strangers used to to tell me how friendly I was" Or to the order taker at Burger King (for my vegeburger) you have a pleasant and east to understand voice. etc etc Often their eyes light up, as does my heart Quote If you receive benefit to being here please help out with expenses. https://www.paypal.me/clubadventist Administrator of a few websites like https://adventistdating.com

Dottie Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 To Gail's post about being in a line--that describes me, too. I talk to people when in line or walking down the aisle, or in a parking lot, etc., etc., And people used to call me shy. People change, I guess. But it gives me a lift to give someone else a lift. Administrators Gail Posted October 6, 2012 Administrators Posted October 6, 2012 This week as I was in the drive-through line-up at Burger King (love those veggie burgers!) I was being served by Manjit, the girl who has served me so often that she knows what I will order when I step up to the head of the line. But that day I went the drive- through route. As she was handing me my drink I got an incoming call. Hubby was on the phone and knowing I was on Bluetooth asked me where I was. I yelled into my dashboard, "I'm at Burger King being served by my favourite server!" She smiled and said, "I'm glad you said that so loud!" (So that the rest of the staff could hear it!) But it was a great moment. This girl is a bit disabled but she's such a GREAT server! Who could know that someone could bring so much joy to a low-income job? She has been a great inspiration to me.
