Members phkrause Posted September 16, 2012 Members Posted September 16, 2012 Three considerations. Evidence that those who are in the first resurrection will get to meet Andrew and find out the full story. Secondly, the evidence that Andrews parents believe in following the Word, without equivocation, though their hearts are breaking. Third, a personal witness that Jesus can move the heart to follow in His footsteps despite the most difficult circumstances. God blesses! So true LHC Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Felix Florimon Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper. I don't believe that our faith in Christ should limit us just to forgive those who do wrong against us and, after we forgive them, only wait for the second coming of Jesus. I feel that we need to follow the advise given to the people of Israel when they were taken prisoners to Babylon, a pagan city. Our dedication to God should also guide us to seek peace and spiritual prosperity of any city or place we should live in (I say spiritual prosperity because it should be first before financial prosperity; material prosperity without any spiritual prosperity is very destructive for our relationship with God). The love that we have for one another in the Adventist community should also be transmitted by example and words used for teaching to people that do not belong to our Adventist community. It is our Christian duty to seek the peace of the place or city we live in. Somebody pulling out a gun and killing an unarmed civilian does not come out of thin air. There should had been a process of spiritual, psychological and moral corruption in the mind of that person before he was able to pull the trigger that took the life of a child of God on this Earth. I believe that every Christian who has the ability to think and to put something in writing should dedicate some time to meditate about this horrendous act and to write to people in authority so more sensible policies could be put in place with a goal in mind that this cycle of people hurting and killing people could be stopped in any place we happen to live in. It is a good thing to let those in authority know where we stand on the issues, and it is certain that those who seek the wisdom given by God will be given gifts that when implemented, will so motivate some in positions of authority that a greater measure of peace may be the end result. OTOH, that was perfectly performed in the courts of heaven and it did not bear fruit to perfection. While I'm of the opinion, all those in heaven were kept up to date on what was necessary to "keep the peace", not all believed and the end result was war in heaven which eventually excluded those unwilling to yield to the greater Wisdom. There is no excuse for sinful conduct, unremitting. "And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, that you send him to my father’s house— for I have five brothers—in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’ But Abraham *said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’ But he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!’ But he said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’”" Luke 16:27-31 NASB There's no doubt all of the counsel found in those texts does not apply to every person and to every situation. To some it will only register as out of context and splatter. However for those whose highest desire is to do what they believe God would have them to do, it will make a lot of sense. God blesses! The most pressing issue is not whether we are going to be successful in getting a proper change of behavior in others when our dedication to God guide us to seek peace and prosperity of any city or place we should live in. The most pressing issue is whether we truly love ourselves in a way that is acceptable to our Creator. God is love and we were created by Him. As long as we have any interest in anything we don't have any option but to love. However, our spiritual separation from God makes us to love the wrong things at the wrong timing and this forces us to end up in a self-destructive behavior either one way or the other. However, if we spend time and energy seeking spiritual prosperity and peace for others, we will be compelled to develop among ourselves what we need to give to others. Therefore, we will be more blessed than others as long as the words of Jesus, quoted by Paul, are truthful "It is more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35). FF Quote
