My husband & I were watching a DVD of the Gaither Israel Homecoming, when I started thinking...

There are a lot of Christians who are preoccupied with Israel and all things Jewish.

They love to travel to the Holy Land and express their awe and wonder at being in the place where Biblical events took place.

They love to dress up in robes and prayer shawls and sound the shofar, and sing songs in minor keys generously sprinkled with Hebrew words (or entirely in Hebrew).

They use lots of words like "shalom" in everyday conversation, and make sure they call God and Jesus by their correct Hebrew names.

And then they turn to us Adventists and accuse us of being "Judaizers" because we keep the Sabbath...

...go figure...

God to me is Yahweh, Jesus is Yeshua. wink.gif I never use the mistransliterated "Jehovah" for God; it grates on my sensibilities. I do, however, frequently call Yeshua "Jesus" simply out of American habit; I grew up hearing that Name so even though it, too, grates on me, it is also a habit, and I get tired of trying to explain who Yeshua is and having people look at me like I'm a two-headed unicorn.

I love to say Shabbat Shalom for "Happy Sabbath" too. I think the Hebrew language is lovely and magickal. I'd like to learn more of it.

However, I am not preoccupied with Israel or all things Jewish, not by a long shot. And of course I'd never accuse a Sabbatarian of being a Judaizer merely for keeping Sabbath. smile.gif

Please don't interpret my post as referring to you, Nico! What was going through my mind was an image of some of my friends from other denominations (especially Pentecostal and Baptist) who seem to have Zionist tendencites and a fixation on all things Israel-related...but just cannot seem to appreciate the value or the validity of the Sabbath...
