bonnie Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Quote: Somehow settlers coming here were supposed to undergo this complete transformation as they crossed the ocean. Some were coming only to get away from oppression. Others came with vision for doing things different. Such was the person, I believe his name was Roger Williams, who began the establishment of the state of Rhode Island. "Where there is no vision [no redemptive revelation of God], the people perish; but he who keeps the law [of God, which includes that of man]—blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable) is he. A servant will not be corrected by words alone; for though he understands, he will not answer [the master who mistreats him]."Proverbs 29:18,19 AMP parenthesis brackets theirs LHC God blesses! Very true, but that was not a transformation in thinking crossing the ocean. It took a lot of heartache, hardship and courage along the way for the personal ideology of many to change Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this. Quotes by Susan Gottesman
LifeHiscost Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Quote: It took a lot of heartache, hardship and courage along the way for the personal ideology of many to change I recall a comment, I thought to be astute, in which the observation of human kind in general was to believe that what is, will more than likely continue the same. Your comment above describes what seems inevitably necessary for man in general, to move off the center equilibrium for the sake of something better. For the most of us, I would venture to say, the fear of the unknown of what might happen usually outweighs the greater benefits that could possibly occur. That is one great reason why the disciples of Christ have the edge over the vast majority of mankind. They have the gift of hope even in their darkest moments, that deliverance is on its' way even though impeded or accelerated by our wise or foolish choices. "Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells."2 Peter 3:11-13 NKJV God blesses! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
