OzarkWoman Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Have fun. I used to live in NM, down near the border actually but had my cancer treatments in ABQ. Quote
Administrators Naomi Posted October 14, 2012 Administrators Posted October 14, 2012 Take a short run up to Santa Fe ... worth the trip Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
JoeMo Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 I grew up in Albuquerque (lived there 40 years). NM is a wonderful state. Are you going to the balloon fiesta (don't know if it's over yet)? If you have time, check out Santa Fe and Taos - especially Taos. If you want great New Mexican food, check out Sadie's on 4th St. or Las Cuates on Lomas and Monroe. Quote
CoAspen Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Joe, You grew up there! We visit there about once a year, have family there. I lived there during the 3rd grade, attending both public and church school. Stan, A trip up the Turquoise Trail is very good for a history tour. Quote
Administrators Naomi Posted October 14, 2012 Administrators Posted October 14, 2012 This is the last day for the balloon fiesta ... maybe there will be some hangers-on just for Stan. Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
JoeMo Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 CoAspen's idea of Turquoise is a great idea! Loop drine through Jemez Springs, over Valle Grande, through Los Alamos/Sant Fe, and back to ABQ is a really nice drive, also. Lots of cliff ruins; and fall colors ought to br great as well About a 4-hour trip. Quote

JoeMo Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 CoAspen, Yup; I was there from 2nd grade (1957) through 1998. My mom, one daughter, 3 grandchildren, and 2 sisters still live there. Quote
LifeHiscost Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Have fun. I....had my cancer treatments in ABQ. How long ago and how did it turn out? Is this something for which you might be longing. "He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”"Revelation 21:4 NLT God blesses! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
Moderators Gerr Posted October 15, 2012 Moderators Posted October 15, 2012 Don't take too deep a breath though. The last time I went through there, the smog was pretty thick; worse than LA. Quote
Planey Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 2nd grade (1957) We are obviously contemporaries - I also did 2nd grade in 1957 (not in New Mexico though!) Sorry! Graeme Quote Graeme____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
CoAspen Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Have yet to see a smoggy day in ALB, sand in the air yes, NM does have sand storms!! Quote
JoeMo Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Ozark Woman, Did you live in Las Cruces or Anthony? I went to school at NMSU (or enema zoo, as we fondly called it in the late 1960's). Quote
JoeMo Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Planey, We're almost brothers by a different mother! We went to different schools together! Still Quote

I loved NM except down in the southern part is a great deal of reverse discrimination. Past that, I love the weather and food and many of the people I met and became friends with. Quote

We lived in T or C for about a year and then moved to Las Cruces but I worked in Alamagordo and Deming and spent a lot of time in Palomas, Mexico. Quote
