When challanged to read just one... the answer after that is usually very positive and more books get read. Which one to start? I would say Story of Redemption Prophets and Kings. God gave her the visions, it wasn't of her. She wrote what "I was shown" or what "I saw" and stated that when it was from vision or by an Angel. You hear a few people make that claim - but they never show where Ellen White said "God has moved on and grown since then" or "What I claimed God told me was not correct it was just my old mistaken views". A good hint on this subject is given to us by James in James 2:10-11 "HE who said do not murder ALSO said do not commit adultery". Ah, Woody, you took me wrong, for me all her coucil was excellent. But when she said "I was shown" or "I saw" that wasn't her peraonal thoughts but from the Lord Himself or from and Angel. Her council even her pesonal council is the best I have ever read of any man in the last 170 yrs and maybe a lot further back. She was still growing in her knowledge and experience in the 1880s and 1890s, right up to 1915. But the question is whether she "moved on from Early Writings" or not. To say she "moved on" makes it sound as if Early Writings is no longer relevant or is somehow less true than her later writings. That isn't the case at all. To claim that Early Writings needs to "grow" - is to totally miss the entire concept of inspiration. James 2 says that inspiration rests with "HE who said" what HE said to His prophets.
