With so much of the Christian world denominationally divided, and division a result of discord, discord a result of a lie as recorded in the proverbs. Is the bible the source of Christian confusion?

Simple test to see if the bible can inspire men to lie can be found at this link.

Can the bible cause men to come to an in...h is presented?

Answer the questions found in the document at this link and let me know if by the end of the document if you answered the questions correctly based on the bible verses presented.

The truth will be evident at the end so you will know if the bible caused you to perceive a lie.

Share your testimony of truth with the members of this thread and answer if you will one last question. How will the perfect truth of God goto all the world if the book is not the source of truth?

"Atheists, infidels, and apostates oppose and denounce God's law; but the results of their influence prove that the well-being of man is bound up with his obedience of the divine statutes. Those who will not read the lesson from the book of God are bidden to read it in the history of nations."

"When France publicly rejected God and set aside the Bible, wicked men and spirits of darkness exulted in their attainment of the object so long desired–a kingdom free from the restraints of the law of God. Because sentence against an evil work was not speedily executed, therefore the heart of the sons of men was "fully set in them to do evil." Ecclesiastes 8:11. But the transgression of a just and righteous law must inevitably result in misery and ruin. Though not visited at once with judgments, the wickedness of men was nevertheless surely working out their doom. Centuries of apostasy and crime had been treasuring up wrath against the day of retribution; and when their iniquity was full, the despisers of God learned too late that it is a fearful thing to have worn out the divine patience.

Hmmmmm. . . Methinks I shall pass on the link and survey.

If the Bible can inspire a lie, then the One who inspired it is a liar. To think that it can inspire a lie undermines its authority and is Satanic. All lies come from the father of lies. It is Satan's twisting of scripture that inspires lies.

The devil spins the Word of God in Genesis 3:1-2 and Eve tries to correct him.

Did the Word of God "inspire Satan to lie" or did Satan simply find the Word of God to be "yet one more place to practice his art"??

Quote:

History is repeating. With the open Bible before them, and professing to reverence its teachings, many of the religious leaders of our time are destroying faith in it as the word of God. They busy themselves with dissecting the word, and set their own opinions above its plainest statements. In their hands God’s word loses its regenerating power. This is why infidelity runs riot, and iniquity is rife. {DA 258.1}

So in fact it is not 'six of one and half-dozen of the other" when it comes to truth vs error. (as I am sure we all agree)

I shall skip this survey as well, as it is truly a waste of my precious time. I think we're getting the hint more and more as to the true agenda of Todd_Vetter. He is actually an atheist in disguise, hoping that we will discover the Bible as an unreliable book.

Todd,

If, as Christians, we must get into this much analysis to get at truths that are necessary to believe in order to be saved, many of us are doomed. What about all of those folks who didn't even have a bible to read for the first 1600 years of the Christian era?

I admit I didn't carefully study your entire article, but it appeared to be a study of translations and paraphrases rather than the original Hebrew and Greek. I can agree that translations may not be 100% accurate. I also have no problem with apparent discprepancies in minor non-salvational details. For example - Matt.8:28-34 described Jesus driving demons from 2 men into a herd of pigs. Mark 5:2-20 describes the same incident, but it only involves one man. Is this a scriptural error that can endanger one's soul? NO! Am I a heretic if I claim there was only one demon-possessed man at Gadarenes instead of 2 (or vice-versa)? No! The TRUTH that the Bible presents here is that Jesus has the power to cast out demons! I personally don't give a dam whether there were 1 or 2 guys with demons. I do care that I have a Savior with absolute power over the forces of evil.

Are you afraid of truth that the bible may cause you to tell a lie? The link shares with you two bible verses from all bible translations. So far there are some who have voted who say Yes the bible can inspire a lie and some who say no. Certainly someone is lying. Based on your testimony I would assume you belive the bible cannot cause a man to lie yet if the bible does in fact cause man to lie, are they not denoucing God's law by simply claiming it to be God's word if God is not capable of telling a lie?

The analysis is about discovering that which causes Christians to stumble so that they can learn to repent to receive true word of God from God instead of reading about the men of the past who knew God instead of knowing of God as christians do today.

If translations have error, what is the cause of the Error. You can goto the Hebrew texts at they are wriitten today and still come up with the same Error because men are not recieving word of God from God.

I use to be an athiest until i discovered the perfection of the Law and the the truth of Word of God from God.

This is simply a fact not provided to the world by Christians for all of their history.

Todd,

You said:

I must agree (at least partially) with that statement - even to the point of saying "Amen"! So often we rely totally on the bible (logos)for what is truth for us. What happened to inspiration by the Holy Spirit? The Spirit may have revelation specific to our own personal lives; and He may have a "twist" on any given scripture specific for us. An example is in Matt. 28:19 where Jesus instructs the disciples to spread the message to the whole world. Yet, in Acts 16:6-7, the Spirit preventd Paul from preaching in Asia and Bythinia. He could have said "Jesus lied about going to the world"; but he didn't, he listened to the Spirit. That being said, we are obligated to determine that what we hear from the Spirit (or another spirit) is or is not in accordance with God's word (See Isaiah 8:20)

Reading your original premise, I now agree that an incomplete understanding of God or His word (including a purposeful twisting of His word or "proof texting" to make one's point rather than allowing the Spirit to guide you)can cause men to stumble; or even lie. I originally voted "No" in your poll.

Purposeful twisting of His word -- cannot be blamed on the Word of God.

It would be like saying 'do you believe that trees are responsible for murder?" The fact that a person can make an arrow or a club out of a tree limb and then murder with it -- does not mean that trees cause murder or incite murder, or inspire it etc.

Yesterday, at the Sabbath sermon, during the second service, the pastor said something that, if it is properly applied, could guide us to always have a positive growing spiritual experience whenever we read the Bible.

The pastor said: Whenever we read the Bible, we should have a two ways communication or conversation with God. Whenever we open the Bible in private or to share it with other people, we should begin this conversation through a prayer requesting God's Holy Spirit so He could talk to us through what is written in God's word, so that the void of good ideas in our minds could be filled with thoughts coming from God through what is written in the Bible and that our pre-conceived ideas could be changed or shaped in such a way as to bring our thinking and actions closer to God's character and closer to His purpose for our lives and for the lives of others.

The problem is that we are sinners and if don't give space to God's Holy Spirit, to open our understanding, our own sinful nature could very easily betray us and end up in applying the Bible in a way that Satan could gain a great deal of advantage in our own lives an in the lives of others. Therefore, when we talk God in prayer and then allow Him to talk to us through His Spirit when reading the Bible, we could never go wrong regarding what the Bible really means or says even though we may understand that our knowledge is very limited that we need more guidance from God

Indeed people that are not guided by the Holy Spirit can fashion trees into clubs for the purpose of murder and can bend the Bible to suit their interests.
