olger Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Excellent questions, namesake. The people who went up to take the city of AI were very confident in their ability to take it. They were wrong big time. So I would say that it is possible to have a false confidence. Jesus told some stories about end time surprises like this. Part 2. No, but it probably doesn't help your witness one little bit. Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Robert Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Heb 10:19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus (His life laid down in death), 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body (His humanity), 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Robert Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Col 1:21 And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled 22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight-- 23 if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister. Gibs Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Our certainity about salvation may not get it as presumption could be the reason or a faulty understanding how it is reached. Uncertainity is not of true faith, and if not the deterent would be a great hold back to the goal. I do believe our Salvation is made sure in Jesus Christ, our all is given over to Him and when He indwells His Spirit is our overcoming power and our walk with Him pleases Him. A true new birth must be done and the old man dead and we are a subject for His Kingdom. Remaining then faithful to our death. "Blessed Asurrance" then is ours. Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ

Moderators Gerr Posted October 27, 2012 Author Moderators Posted October 27, 2012 ‎‎ESV | ‎Lk 18:10 “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. ‎11 The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. ‎12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ ‎13 But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ ‎14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other.
