I see the Holiday Inn there is usually $432 a nite and is onsale for only $318 through one of the discount places. BRAVUS, did not you spend some time in Mission Service there? Moderators Bravus Posted October 27, 2012 Moderators Posted October 27, 2012 Yeah, we were there in 1993 and 1994, so I'm not sure how useful any knowledge I might have would be. I would say it's a beautiful country but with fractious politics - there were two competing Prime Ministers recently! And its mineral wealth, which is considerable, has jacked up the prices of accommodation. If you're going I'd be inclined to contact Pacific Adventist University (where I taught) and see if someone there can billet you. They'll also have good security tips, but basically 'don't go off campus after dark' was the advice when we were there - and I don't think it's got a lot better. Also depends where you go - the northern islands around Rabaul are beautiful and much more unspoiled. The highlands are different again, but we never made it there. Quote Truth is important
