Woody Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Quote: Testimony Studies on Diet and Foods, p. 8."There are some who have gotten radical and extreme views from their reading of the instruction given, but such have failed to study thoroughly, with an OPEN MIND, all of the instruction, and have therefore been unable to view the matter, as it is, a broad, well-balanced whole." Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Gibs Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 And not only on diet and foods should we open our mind to the truth of diet but on the spiritual also. We need His Spirit though to be in us to sift out the errors running wild these last days. Joh 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. Joh 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Administrators Gail Posted October 28, 2012 Administrators Posted October 28, 2012 So... What does it mean to have an open mind, in this context, of the health message? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Gibs Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Gail, there may be more than this, but I've learned if possible a mostly raw food diet is best. And the type of fats we use. Virgin Coconut oil and fresh virgin olive oil. I find that Avocados are great and we've been getting really good ones here. I am an avid gardener and raise all I can in a 50x75 foot garden and do it the Back to Eden way. www.backtoedenfilm.com/ This is the way I garden and began around 30 yrs ago but recently I do it fully that way. The garden is covered with 3 to 4 inches of ground up wood chips and leaves and green grass in summer, ready to part the stuff to the soil and put in seeds and plants and they do wonderfully, amazingly wonderfully. Change the movie from HD in lower right corner if connection isn't fast and an older XP computer. An 81+ fellow needs an easier way and this is it! 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Administrators Gail Posted October 28, 2012 Administrators Posted October 28, 2012 I have an open mind enough to like this concept! We do put our maple leaves in the garden... If I was retired I could spend more time there. I wish! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted October 28, 2012 Administrators Posted October 28, 2012 Lately I've been using organic coconut oil (I thought it was all organic, but I guess not...) for different things, even to help dry skin. It feels and smells wonderful- like a tropical holiday! And we use virgin, cold-pressed olive oil and avocados, too. Nothing like it! Today I made a spread that is supposed to help reduce our use of butter. I used European butter (made with whole non-pasteurized, non-homogenized milk) and mixed it with equal parts of flaxseed oil (for omegas), added nutritional yeast, green herbs, garlic and a bit of cayenne and salt. I got the recipe from a liver detoxification book. It's YUMMY and will go so much better on baked or boiled baby potatoes than sour cream. It's been many years since I've read Back to Eden. What do you grow in your garden? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted October 28, 2012 Administrators Posted October 28, 2012 Gibs, for someone following an old book like Back to Eden, you have incorporated some modern ideas, like the coconut oil. I would call that being open-minded about the health message. :) Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Gibs Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 We can grow all but the warm climate things and I do full spectrum. Right now I have wonderful late radishes that are crip juicy and not hot and pithy. I have garlic in already for spring and spinach which will put on a couple to 4 leaves and survives the winter, but comes early and quick that way and don't bolt Quick. Great stuff. A few cabbages to get yet before it drops to 20 degrees and my Glads to take up. Just an ole tater eating country boy. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Woody Posted October 28, 2012 Author Posted October 28, 2012 The point of this is to make sure we avoid the radical and extreme views which are so attractive to many. Yes, I know it is the end times and these things have to be expected. But we do need to try and avoid the sensational. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Gibs Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 I am with you there Woody on that. Although it is so hard to do with so many sensational things happening. All sides of things must be looked at and take a long look at the facts and then one can miss and be wrong. Who hasn't been wrong? None of us I'm sure, so we go with caution.
