"and the means to keep them" Do you mean guns or do you mean storage for those anti-biotics.<< Quote: Quote:jasdNo. Assumed that the first order of business was the 'Biblical sword'. First priority: a Bible Second priority: defend your life and that of your wife and children Third priority: guns - without which all else devolves to meaningless Yes, to "storage". acqueous Penicillins and other antibiotics (unless in tab form) need to be refrigerated. A small insulated chest that'll run on Direct Current, a small solar panel, and a 12 volt auto battery. Otherwise, two rounded clay pots - one large and one small enough to place inside the larger, yet still allow a goodly amount of wet sand to pack between the two - with an insulating lid on top. Restin Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Back in 2004 when 3 hurricanes hit Flordia, My husband and I were forced to live without electricy for four weeks. It's because we aren't in a subdivision but on a rural line of our own. Part of the roof was gone, too. Instead of freezing cold, it was Florida's hottest month. The generator operated 2 items. We chose to run a fan and the TV. Survival lessons were learned. It was tough for us spoiled Americans, but we learned how to get by off the grid. No fun, for sure! I feel so much for the Sandy victims, who are getting it even worse than we did!! Quote

We went to stay with her because she had knee surgery just a few weeks prior, so my brother stayed one week and they got hit with the first HC, and than I went down and got the next two. Her power was off for about a week total for the three HCs, of course the forth one went up the west coast and did some damage there.
