In my reading through the Bible I am now going through the book of Job. I must say that I have gotten a blessing from the words of Elihu in verses 23-30 of chapter 33. He clearly grasps the concept of a Redeemer.

Now, if Job was the first book of the Bible to be written as some believe (in one of my chronological Bibles it appears right after Genesis), the concept of a Saviour and salvation was known really early on. AND it was known by more than just the faithful line of the Hebrews, as it is mentioned in Job that he was a person "of the east".

You probably already knew all this, but for me, I was just pondering that.

I really think Adam and Eve were told of it and the story of Cains sacrifice and Abels, the fact a produce sacrifice didn't represent the blood.

I have an idea it was clearer to them than this but don't this say it?

Ge 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Ge 3:16 ¶ Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

I noticed that two of Job's friends sound a lot like two common voices in Adventism today, the more liberal evangelicals and the so called "Historic Adventists" Now a lot of us don't have the history to understand the part where God is talking about the Leviathan, but if you know the history you will learn that in that passage God tells Job why what happened is happening. We understand the book from the front of the book, but the earliest readers understood it from the back

A friend of mine and I were discussing the story of Job just the other day. We agreed that it is one of the most disturbing stories ever and displays a cruel, evil, and sadistic God.

Yes, it's truely odd that the only One, True, Living, and Infinite Loving God would torture for hours and murder his Only Begotten Son on a cross to save you from sin and eternal death. See any light and beauty in that?

A Holy Life is a terrible thing to waste, especially to save a sinful man. . .

I think here is where confusion reigns, rather. Q.E.D. you quoted that passage. Does that passage say "the only One, True, Living, and Infinite Loving God would torture for hours and murder his Only Begotten Son on a cross" or something like it?

It does not.

So I think you must be confused somehow about who did the torturing and murdering.

No, I am here to discuss and debate. 99% of the time that can be done civilly. But ya know, after a few times of the same person (in different threads and over time ) essentially calling you dimwitted it tends to get on ones nerves.

Well my friend, may your God bless you for you honesty. For the record however 'twas not you I refer to as the person that speaks down like he is talking to a 2 year old.

I gotta wonder though - if you never converse with any that do not believe - how are you supposed to share your message with the "unsaved". I mean does your bible not demand that of you? But that is between you and your God. May you live in peace and find much joy.
