Jack Hayford: Election Outcome Could Be Prophetic Announcement

1:00PM EST 11/8/2012 Jack Hayford

My feelings, following the results of the 2012 presidential race, are not predicated on the relative merits or either candidate. They are borne with facts that are true of Americans' lives at this time in the 21st century; some of which are flavored by choices by our seated president's words and actions, but not without difficulties that may be attributed to either of our presidential candidates or their parties. In short, our vulnerabilities and weaknesses as a nation—economically, spiritually, morally or otherwise, have a deeper root than the failures of human management or policy.

It is in the light of that preamble that I make this statement: The re-election of President Obama is yet another landmark of history that reveals the inevitable flow of events which increase in depth and spread when the church mistakes its mission. As one incident, the election outcome holds the portent of being a prophetic announcement of the impending end of the significance of the church in America, unless ...

... Unless a reawakening of Christ's body in America occurs, which heeds the "first of all" priority Paul, by the Holy Spirit (1 Tim. 2:1-2), assigned to the church's ministry of prayer and intercession for leaders, peoples and nations, no administration or political party will be capable of a solution to our nation's essential problems.

... Unless the church becomes more persuaded that the fountainhead of its strength is in living worship—by which we humble ourselves, seeking God's presence (more than it demonstrates our skill at making music)—no degree of programming or growth will be able to regain the place of influence the once-effective voice the church historically has had in the U.S. as "salt," to neutralize the toxic issues existing in the arena of morality, justice and family life.

... Unless the pulpits, sanctuaries and classrooms of the church be once again employed as centerpieces of shaping disciples unto transformation with solid teaching and meaty preaching, holding forth the Word of life, the declining percentage of believers in America will be further reduced. "Church Growth" alone will never be an effective substitute for "people growth"; the formation and equipping of committed followers of Jesus Christ, who bear His Cross and who shine as lights in the world.

... Unless a vanguard of today's American church leadership chooses to take a stand with Israel as the Sovereign God's chosen people (a theological posture rooted in the Word and our nation's history), the effect of out present apathy will advance an already increasing global anti-Semitism, and the brash rise in political scorn manifest today will continue to move our nation closer to the edge of self-destruction by reason of its collective choice to pass judgment against and forsake our support of God's ancient land and people; a choice certain to boomerang cataclysmic judgments upon us via a scenario which may well bring about the finale of our nation's existence (see Zech. 12-14).

In summary: the bitter fruit of the 2012 presidential outcome is not the party or person who is taking the White House, but in the disappearing fruitage of the church's inherent, God-given dynamic to affect the spiritual climate of our nation and effect a harvest of the "fruit of righteousness" in a country formerly seen as sufficiently "Christian" to leave a deep enough stamp on the national life to indicate a credible, spiritual presence.

Jack Hayford is founder and chancellor of The King’s University in Los Angeles and a former president of The Foursquare Church. Best known as “Pastor Jack,” he is the founder of The Church On The Way in Van Nuys, Calif., and a prolific writer and musical composer.

The problem in America is not so much the man Obama, but an uninformed electorate willing to have such a man as their president.

Are you so sure the electorate that elected him was uninformed?

They do ignore where this man will lead but in the meantime, the "soak the rich to give me" is well understood

You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this.

This is good stuff. Keep it coming. Blaming the people will stop the GOP for taking responsibility for it own loss. It's ironic that the party of personal responsibility is not able to take responsibility for it's own failure.

Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence.

Unless you have a different version of the opening post, there isn't anything in that post to indicate the party of personal responsibility is not able to take responsibility for it's own failure.

There are still some SDA's and christians of other denominations that believe that the US will play a role in end time events. Not alone to be sure, and not a role to be proud of,but it certainly will.

We have been slowly conditioned to turning over our rights to the government that which we should not have. Now it is accelerating at a undeniable rate. But the most telling is,there are so many saying "more and more"

Unfortunately, some of these folk think that the perpetrators of the end time events will be members of the "other" party. Being part of the "my party good, your party bad" mindset makes you ripe for the final deceptions.

Losing an election is much like bereavement for a political party and many Republicans are still going through the stages of anger and denial.

Because this is you...Unfortunately, some of these folk think that the perpetrators of the end time events will be members of the "other" party.stop trying to paint others with your way of looking at issues.

Most that identify as conservatives vote republican as that is a party that even vaguely represents our beliefs. Not because the republican party is good and will not have any part to play in prophetic events.

One thing that is more and more apparent is the escalation by the democratic party.

Watch what is taking place around us.

It might serve you well to go back to school and further your education in grief counseling.

I'd agree with your use of the word vague: Of uncertain, indefinite, or unclear character or meaning: The connection with Adventist doctrine and republicanism is indeed unclear in its character. My guess is that some are seeking to make Adventism in the image of their own personal political persuasion.

Why would you so wholeheartedly support a party that is "not good"?

Escalation ?

See..........denial and a flash of anger disguised as sarcasm. fro3

The reason I said that is because that is what I meant.I am neither in denial or going thru bereavement.

I have gone thru bereavement in losing a child, also the denial when first hearing it.

To some,an election might be the same, however those that believe that need to go back an reevaluate the words.

The list is pretty long, including Obama declaring federal law does have to be abided by.

Of course when you happen to believe those laws were wrong to begin with, not a problem when the president of the US waves his magic wand and says "I" say they don't matter

Of course when part of the voting block that placed this man in office views him as the new crucified Savior,Our Lord and Savior and the Apostle Obama" he can d pretty much as he pleases

You know Bonnie, if what you say about the Democratic party and Obama were true, I would agree with you. But that is the problem. It's not true.

It is like the story of the college student that comes up to the pastor and declares that she does not believe in God. The past asks her why and she proceeds to describe God as a mean and vengeful God, blaming God for all manner of evil and tragedy of life, etc. The pastor pauses for a moment and tells her that he also does not believe in that god she describes. That is because he knows that to be a false picture of God. He then proceeded to tell her of a different God, the one he believed in.

It is very hard to have a meaningful or constructive discussion about something with someone who has a very distorted sense of reality about it. It simply can't happen until everyone is operating from the same set of facts.

"Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good."

"Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal."

"I love God only as much as the person I love the least."

*Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth.

(And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

And you just helped reinforce my point by extending the distortions to those of us who support the president...

Extremely few, if any, Democrats seriously place Obama on a "level just slightly beneath God".

Nobody but you and other extremists even suggest it's "treason" (not even "almost") to admit to anything lacking in Obama.

When you resort to such extreme and outrageous hyperbolic accusations you only demonstrate your own lack in your perspective of "a much different light". It is a sign of a weakening argument and the thin rational basis on which it rests.

So then tell me,what is it that makes you a Obama supporter?

The state of the economy? Obamacare ???
