Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted December 11, 2012 Moderators Posted December 11, 2012 This is a true story. I was told this as really happening to some friends of my late husband. Two Fortune 500 company executives were interviewing job applicants -- college graduates -- for positions with their organization. After the informal interviews, and after all their aptitude tests were successful, the applicants were invited to dinner at an upscale restaurant in the big city. The applicants dressed appropriately, in business suits, and they arrived promptly at the appointed time at the elegant restaurant. The hosts greeted them and took them to their table. After the applicants were seated, were served some libations, and then placed their orders, the executives continued asking innocuous questions of the applicants while everyone talked and relaxed. Once the salads and the entrees were served, the applicants then could focus on knowing which fork to use first, etc. The meal proceeded uneventfully from then on to the end. Later, however, two of the applicants were notified that they were not hired. They had not passed the test at the restaurant -- they had salted their food before tasting it. That was it; that's all the executives were looking for: if a person used salt on his food before tasting it, this would probably indicate that his only prior restaurant experiences had been confined to short-order houses, or similar. In other words, they'd had no experience eating well prepared gourmet food; so they would not "fit in" at the Fortune 500 company. Moral of the story: We can at least pretend to have had an upscale prior life if we only remember always to taste our food before salting it. Members phkrause Posted December 11, 2012 Members Posted December 11, 2012 LOL, I guess from that, that I would've gotten the job, because I never salt my food. They would've thought that I had tasted it and decided I didn't need any more salt. My wife on the other hand would not been hired, since she always salts her food first. She always thinks there's never enough salt, no matter how much its been salted. :) Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.
