BobRyan Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Quote: Satan urges before God his accusations against them, declaring that they have by their sins forfeited the divine protection, and claiming the right to destroy them as transgressors. He pronounces them just as deserving as himself of exclusion from the favor of God. “Are these,” he says, “the people who are to take my place in heaven and the place of the angels who united with me? While they profess to obey the law of God, have they kept its precepts? Have they not been lovers of self more than of God? Have they not placed their own interests above His service? Have they not loved the things of the world? Look at the sins which have marked their lives. Behold their selfishness, their malice, their hatred toward one another.” {5T 473.2} Why is Satan so insistent on the rule that anyone who is in rebellion against God's Law - be destroyed - and destroyed NOW! Even in this statement he admits he is in with the worst of them. And when Christ speaks of Satan - Christ does not say he is "among the worst" - but that he is the father of all sinners. His head would come off first. And yet he claims to be in the role of executioner of the sinner. What is up with that??? Indeed many of the dark-ages myths use Satan's view of it - with Satan in charge of tormenting people in hell. in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." COL 316.
Gibs Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 I do think there was a time given to Satan and his to repent and be reconciled but he would not. Now he is acting like he should be included in the mercy period of man and since they fell to him it is his right to destroy them. Yes he is the cause of their destruction alright but if any repent and turn from disobedience, then their sins fall on him is probably his great concern. Satan's pleading day is over long ago and he knows it. He also knows he is nothing compared to the Great God of whom he should have been with and of. Yet it appears Satan will not give up trying to overcome God, even knowing it is useless. It also rings of his plea that he is not recognizing the obedient repenting ones. In reality he is the destroyer of the lost, but each that is lost need not have been, man makes his own bed of death too really. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Moderators Gerr Posted December 13, 2012 Moderators Posted December 13, 2012 That's one thing that is difficult for me to understand - why Satan would want to destroy people that follow him. Quote
