Stan Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 If there was one prophet of the 20th Century, I would say it was Martin Luther King. AND I still share and believe in his dream. Windsor Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 First to nitpick. Ellen White ministered during 15 years of the 20th century. Secondly, though MLK was lacking in certain morals, a lot of his predictions have yet to come true, and I'm not sure if they will. Certain people are still far more interested in judging people by the color of their skin than the content of their character with the continued use of affirmative action and commentators on very popular TV networks even last week outrageously questioning whether individuals are "brothers" or "cornball brothers". Other predictions of his have come true with far more White-Black friendships than there ever were in his day. It really is a shame that he was murdered because his legacy was hijacked by people that don't share his same vision, and I believe have set back race relations a hundred years from where they could be. Stan Posted December 18, 2012 Author Posted December 18, 2012 Interesting points... Brings up the questions.. Are prophets sinless? Infallible? Have not seen predications from him. Are prophets really baptized psychics? Kountzer Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 I don't know if he was a prophet, but it does seem he was given some occasional prophetic insights, as exampled in that sermon. I've wondered and thought about that speech often, ever since it was delivered. I was thirteen at the time. I had just come in from playing with my friends on the streets, when my parents told me that Dr Martin Luther King had been killed. I immediately felt a strange, yet familiar feeling of loss. It was familiar because I felt like that the first time when President Kennedy was assassinated. I felt it again when Robert Kennedy was shot and killed. That night and the next several days after Dr King was killed, they played that sermon on television over and over. Looking back, the '60s (sixties) was a crazy and turbulent decade. I witnessed the whole decade, and still am amazed at everything that happened during that time. Quote I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs. Frederick Douglass
Stan Posted December 18, 2012 Author Posted December 18, 2012 To me... he spoke with power with a message that was anointed. He reminds me of prophets of old. Stan Posted December 18, 2012 Author Posted December 18, 2012 I encourage the viewing the youtube above, and just think how you would feel if he was an Adventist saying that. But would definitely consider his speech to be among the greatest sermons ever, and at a time it was most needed.
