Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted December 22, 2012 Moderators Posted December 22, 2012 http://www.atoday.org/article/1551/blogs/downing-lawrence/a-call-for-patience The above article will challenge you. Written by Larry Downing it references an article in the December 2012 edition of MINISTRY MAGAZINE. That article was written by Reinder Burinsma. He is retired but currently serves as president of the Belgian-Luxembourg Conference in Brussels, Belgium. It should be noted the Reinder has published extensively on issues in the SDA Church. While the December article referenced above is not yet on the Internet, you can find many of his article on the Internet. One article of interest that I discovered whole looking at the many articles that he has written was an article on trends in tithe paying in Australia--althought Reinder did not write it, he did submit some material, as I understand it, that was used in the article. https://www.ministrymagazine.org/archive...-australia.html Quote Gregory
Gustave Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 The article is wrong in that the author claims the SDA Church has taken a literal stance on the Genesis.... ...This is not true - the SDA Church has taken a LITERALISTIC stance on the Genesis. ...The Catholic Church takes a "literal" approach to Scripture while SDA's are LITERALISTIC. ...Huge difference. Y0u might just want to look up the definitions, You are speaking of differnt uses of the same word , but the meanings are not changed, simply describing the original word differently as used in a sentance. HUgh difference...not even a small one. Quote

Gustave Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 GERRY CABALO yes I think last year sometime the pope said that evolution was possible dgrimm60 The Pope did not say anything like that at all.... ...God made the world and all that is in from nothing. ...That is Catholic teaching. What mechanisms God used to craft actual life-forms is what science is all about. Quote
Members phkrause Posted January 4, 2013 Members Posted January 4, 2013 This is pretty interesting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_Church_and_evolution Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Gustave Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 This is pretty interesting:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_Church_and_evolution Yes, the part that says; "Today, the Church's unofficial position is an example of theistic evolution, also known as evolutionary creation,[2] stating that faith and scientific findings regarding human evolution are not in conflict, though humans are regarded as a special creation, and that the existence of God is required to explain both monogenism and the spiritual component of human origins. Moreover, the Church teaches that the process of evolution is a planned and purpose-driven natural process, actively guided by God.[3][4][5]" In otherwords there will be NOTHING ever discovered by Science... ...That is at odds with the Christian Faith. ...God made the Universe and all that's in it from NOTHING. ..."Ex nihilo".
