Woody Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Many of you know that I live out in the country bordering wilderness designated land. I get to see nature in it's raw state. Since moving here I've had deer come to visit me most days. Now that there is snow on the ground they've been looking in my windows begging to come in. Since the deer have been looking thin - I thought I might feed them. So in the last couple of weeks - I've started to feed them and have won their confidence. Today - I had 8 deer right next to the house between the house and my garage. I was able to walk out among them and pet them. And when I pet them - they didn't run off or dart away. They seemed comfortable with me. I was able to stand among them and just look into their eyes. It just felt like I was jumping the gun on what heaven was going to be like. Interacting with the animals. It's a feeling beyond description. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Woody Posted December 27, 2012 Author Posted December 27, 2012 Thanks for posting my pics Bravus. I'll figure out how to do it myself one of these days. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
JoeMo Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 That is so awesome Woody! Thanks for the pics, Bravus! We have deer and pronghorn antelope in our neighborhood as well; and elk and moose not that far away. It's pretty cool to be that close to deer and antelope who aren't afraid; but a fearless elk or moose is another story - nice to look at - really mean if you get too close. HUGE, too! Quote

Woody Posted December 27, 2012 Author Posted December 27, 2012 Wow~those are great, Woody! Thanks Cricket. When I took the picture - I asked all of my deer friends to look into the camera - but a few were disobedient. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Woody Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 Today - I was surrounded by 14 deer. I walked out among them and petted some. Some like the buck - would not let me reach out. He was within reaching distance - but ran off when I tried to pet him. My neighbor was out watching me. Gave him a few chuckles. It had to look funny. JoeMo Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Has a buck ever tried to "fight" you? Sometimes in the autumn, they can get a little testy; and are quite formidable when they get aggressive. I saw a hunter on "America's Funniest Home Videos" smear himself with femail deer pheremones to attract bucks to shoot. It was funny; but not pretty. A buck beat the living poop out of the guy. I had a buck lower his head and just shake his antlers at me once when I tried to pet him. I understood; and haven't tried to touch a buck ever since. Quote
