Guest Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 As a boy growing up we played a game where the opposing teams flag was in a 12 foot circle two city blocks from ours. The object was to grab it and run back to your territory without being touched. If you were touched by the enemy you were out of the game, but nowdays when nations go to war, the object of the game is no longer to capture the other guy’s flag and place his flag under your flags rules as it once was. I read recently of Sun Tzu, the ancient Chinese philosopher and general, said that "when the Art of War is brought to its highest pinnacle, the enemy will be conquered without the opposing armies ever having met in the field. By skillfully using the art of deception, and skillful use of agents to infiltrate the enemy’s government, the enemy may be conquered without the enemy ever knowing that it had been conquered." Yes, Adventism has many lessons to learn about already being conquered and not knowing it. Also they have many/many/ lessons to unlearn that is the root cause of all their problems. I am talking about their study guides on theology that need to be "unlearned" that never was truth to begin with. But take courage as I have, there is always a solution when things are done in the strength of the mighty One. Quote
Guest Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 As a people we have become weak and dwarfed in religious growth, because we have sought the strength of finite, erring men, when we might have had the strength of an unerring, infinite God. The displeasure of God is upon the churches in every conference, because they do not come to Jesus and learn of Him, seeking for that wisdom which He alone can give. Ministers who have labored zealously in the work have gone prematurely to the grave, because church members have clung to them, making them responsible for the work which God alone could do. They have not been able to do all that should have been done to teach the people the way of the Lord, to point them to Him who is man's sure Helper. Why do we not go to the mighty Helper, instead of to weak, erring man? Why do we place man where God should be? Let every church member closely examine his own heart, and see if he really has confidence in the promises of God. . . . {12MR 256.1} Quote
