That was what I thought till I read "For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea and all that in them is. Ex. 20:11

When was heaven created?

Paul tells us of the "third heaven" in 2Cor 12 -- apparently that is not the one spoken of in Ex 20:11.

Genesis 1 speaks of birds flying "in the open firmament of heaven" - apparently that is what Ex 20:11 is talking about since it is summarizing Genesis 1:2-2:3.

Rev 19:17 -

17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;

Just sayin'

By contrast Genesis 1:1 is a general summary of all creation and may include all 3 heavens.

NASB95 | ‎Ex 20:11 “For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and made it holy.

BTW, "heaven" in Gen 1:1 is plural.

I don't know what version you get your info from - but it ain't in mine. I use the King James for accuracy and it is singular in both Gen.1 and Ex. 20.

Heavens refers to the atmosphere & maybe some of the surrounding planets, moons, sun.

While the English translation "heaven" is singular, the Hebrew is plura. Check it out for yourself.

Since heavens is plural now - I am to believe that there was no heaven prior to creation? Then where did God live?

Indeed - Gen 1:1 appears to summarize all of God's creation work - not just the 7 day creation week for this planet.
