Doug Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 1 to 2 bags. I make oatmeal smoothies for breakfast, I can't stand to look or eat the stuff by iutself. Quote
Dottie Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 I have quick oatmeal every morning with raisins, wheat bran, and ground flaxseed, and milk. Not my favorite food, but I lived to eat for so long that now I eat to live. Quote
Moderators LynnDel Posted June 18, 2005 Moderators Posted June 18, 2005 Either the old fashioned kind or quick is fine for me. I like it cooked or raw, with raisins or without, with honey or without. A couple times a week is great; everyday would be too much. I'm not sure about instant oatmeal - but from the question, I guess it comes in bags! I think I tasted it once in 1991. <img src="/ubbtreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> LD Quote LD
Liz Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 I don't like oatmeal myself unless it is in "no-bake oatmeal chocolate cookies", but my dh and both my kidlets love instant oatmeal, any flavor, and always two bags. Every once in awhile I will fix the stove top kind--the kids call it "Laura Ingalls" oatmeal . Liz Quote For what will a man be profited, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted June 18, 2005 Moderators Posted June 18, 2005 Steel cut oats -- my latest enjoyment. A more hearty version of oats [no -meal to it at all]. But it takes a few minutes to cook [less time in the microwave]. Crunchy and delicious to eat. With milk, dates, raisins, brown sugar, or none of the above. Fran Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 I have to have my oatmeal runny. My husband makes it so thick that when you try to take a bit, the whole bowl full of oatmeal sticks to the spoon! I like it with only salt and butter and maybe raisins. IT HAS TO BE RUNNY! How can anyone swallow the thick junk! Doug Posted June 19, 2005 Author Posted June 19, 2005 I have only had a good bowl of oatmeal once. I was going to a computer convention out in burbank, and I was really hungry, so I went into a resteraunt called the Daily Grill. I had a bowl of oatmeal with rasins and cinnamon. I can still taste it. Thats probably the best breakfast i ever had. I also had skim milk, fresh fruit, and apple juice. Quote
Nicodema Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 Cubensis, what's your recipe for oatmeal smoothies? I'd be interested to try one. Quote "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" -- T.S. Eliot
