Rise of the Drones Documentary

Last week PBS launched a Nova documentary "Rise of the Drones", showcasing many capabilities and new developments.

Drones are unmanned aircraft which can carry high resolution cameras as well as missiles, even remain in the air for days undetected, several miles above the earth. And they can be controlled from the other side of the globe, much like a video game on steroids.

Onboard cameras have remarkable resolution. And there's a new drone which has hundreds of cameras and can watch an entire medium sized city, detecting any item down to six inches in size, and record the whole city at that resolution simultaneously. All this footage can be stored and later zoomed to fine detail. It can collect one million terabytes of video per day, the world's highest resolution (conglomerate) camera they claim, at 1.8 billion pixels.
