Administrators Gail Posted February 5, 2013 Administrators Posted February 5, 2013 is against... unlocking your smartphone! Have a boo at this Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
joeb Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 is against... unlocking your smartphone! Have a boo at this These types of laws have been around for quite a while. Proprietary software makers have been doing this for a long time and their lobbyists have been pushing through more and more restrictive laws all the time. Unlocking your smartphone is no more illegal than you considering that you actually own your copy of Windows. You "unlock" Windows with anything other than the way MS wants you to, and you are considered a pirate. It doesn't matter that you paid for it either. You do not legally own your own software. Members phkrause Posted February 5, 2013 Members Posted February 5, 2013 Interesting article, and very telling about the silence of all that were they willing could've done something about it, but chose not to. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

Ah yes, the ignorance around the virtual world is immense - particularly within our elected officials, and the software takes advantage of it to be the Robber Barons of today - using the power of Government to protect themselves. So....unlocking a phone or an operating system in manners unprescribed by law makes me...a hacker or a pirate? Wow. Of course, if I DID do that, and becoming a Pirate...I wouldn't do anything anyway..... Blessings, Quote "As iron sharpens iron, so also does one man sharpen another" - Proverbs 27:17 "The offense of the cross is that the cross is a confession of human frailty and sin and of inability to do any good thing. To take the cross of Christ means to depend solely on Him for everything, and this is the abasement of all human pride. Men love to fancy themselves independent. But let the cross be preached, let it be made known that in man dwells no good thing and that all must be received as a gift, and straightway someone is offended." Ellet J. Waggoner, The Glad Tidings "Courage is being scared to death - and saddling up anyway" - John Wayne "The person who pays an ounce of principle for a pound of popularity gets badly cheated" - Ronald Reagan
joeb Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 The next thing up from MS is called "Secure Boot" that is going to be hardware-based. What it basically does is lock out any operating system(OS) other than Windows unless the other OS developers pay MS a licensing fee. It's nothing more than another attempt to run all other OS's out of existence. It's called an enforced monopoly. It's illegal, but they are getting away with it. The Justice Department is going to do nothing about it. Quote Liberty cannot be established without morality, nor morality without faith.Alexis de Tocqueville
