Woody Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 On Sabbath - I got a letter in the mail. It stated that an important medication I am taking would no longer be covered by Medicare. Folks this is not politics. This is personal. And if the mods are concerned about the sensibilities of those ears that don't want to hear the politics in our lives - then lock this thread. But Obama has decided to pay for his ObamaCare on the backs of seniors and the disabled ... such as you and me. He wants the rich to have their care and expects ME to pay for it. I've taken this med for a long time. And I need it because I've tried the others and either they don't work or I am allergic to them. Folks - this is getting very personal for me. This is no longer about politics. This is my life we are talking about. Thanks for listening ... (mods - do as you please) Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. bonnie Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 But Obama has decided to pay for his ObamaCare on the backs of seniors and the disabled ... such as you and me. He wants the rich to have their care and expects ME to pay for it. Folks - this is getting very personal for me. This is no longer about politics. This is my life we are talking about. Thanks for listening ... If it is any comfort it is very personal for many of us. He wants the rich to have their care and expects ME to pay for it. The rich generally pay for their own insurance and medical costs. The amount that has been shifted from medicare did not go to the rich.Try those on medicaid. Before I had my first surgery over two years ago for knee replacement,my surgeon stresses any necessary elective surgery be done as quickly as possible. He has been a orthopedic surgeon in countries with socialized/controlled medicine and was very free with telling his patients they would not like what was coming down the road. Realistically, once Obamacare passed there really isn't any choice but to begin cutting back on seniors and the disabled. My husband is a stroke victim and is 72.His value to society is very limited compared to even a 50 year old still working and paying into the system. His value is to me and our family, not to society. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this. Quotes by Susan Gottesman
Members phkrause Posted February 12, 2013 Members Posted February 12, 2013 Interesting, because when we were working and on healthcare through our jobs, my wife needed a certain medication for her stomach. Every time the doctor would try to get it OK'd, the insurance company would deny it. Now that we are on medicare, guess what? She can get it! Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

It takes a long time for a drug to get on the list of the approved. Usually it's just a matter of time. But now with ObamaCare - we are going backwards. Administrators Gail Posted February 13, 2013 Administrators Posted February 13, 2013 Woody, what is your recourse? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
CoAspen Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Gail, there is a lot of misconceptions about the effect of the new health care in this country, mostly tied to politics or misunderstanding. The truths and nuances can be found by a simple search and investigation of the facts. Change is always difficult to accept and of course more money is spent in this country on healthcare than others with out significantly improved results. The anecdotal stories will always get the individual and news interest as if they are the fact for all. The intent is to not only reduce the cost, but to also provide care to more individuals. The gap has been growing by leaps and bounds between those who can afford and those who can't. Health Care is a business and expects profits for its investors. Like it or not, in this country everyone needs some type of insurance, private, medicare or medicaid, can't live without it! We are a spoiled country with instant access to everything and the latest technology which is very expensive. Example, we have more PET/CT scanners in the Denver area than all of Canada and other parts of the world. Are they needed, nope, but the public demands the latest and greatest. Quote
Members phkrause Posted February 13, 2013 Members Posted February 13, 2013 CoAspen, I had read somewhere and heard from a few HC people, had it not been for the overhaul, that prices would've double these past few years? What are your thoughts on that? Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
CoAspen Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 ..tis hard to keep the insurance and drug companies from wanting more and more...but yes you are correct to varing degrees by company and states, if they have any control mechanisms in place. Our country is ageing so the pool of Medicare and medicaid pts are increasing, plus premiems go higher as more of the ageing pool is useing more and more of the insurance dollars. Quote

Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted February 14, 2013 Moderators Posted February 14, 2013 Woody, sometimes the drug company will give the medication free if the patient has been cut off from it by his insurance company. Ask your doctor if there's any possibility that this particular drug company might do that for you in this case. Quote Jeannie

...Change is inevitable; growth is optional....
olger Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Our insurance has gone up much more than usual as the market adjusts to ObamaGrab. I spooke to the agent, his reply "Get used to it - it's going to get worse." Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
joeb Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Woody, I know exactly where you're coming from. Since the 1st of January, and I have no insurance, the cost of my meds has gone up tremendously. If I wasn't on some Patient Assistance programs from the drug manufacturers themselves I couldn't afford my insulin, my gabapentin(for peripheral neurapathy), or my blood pressure meds. They have all tripled, at least, in price. We were told this was coming. Those who read the Obamacare bill told us it was coming. Obama flat out lied and said it wasn't. He took close to $.75 trillion out of Medicare and used it to help pay for Obamacare, and at the same time said he was reducing the budget by that amount. He used the same money multiple times in his budget. What I said isn't about politics. It's about truth, no matter what Hillary Clinton says about whether truth matters or not.
