Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted February 18, 2013 Administrators Posted February 18, 2013 Just have to wonder what could have happened if this prayer breakfast speech from 2006 had gotten the same attention by the media as the one by Ben Carson... "> " type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"> If Ben is a modern day Daniel (really not sure that fits, but...) then Bono is a modern day Isaiah (as ill-fitting as that may seem to some)... Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)
Members phkrause Posted February 18, 2013 Members Posted February 18, 2013 Who would've thought! He never used the word he's so famous for saying. Great speech, thanks for sharing Tom. Kountzer Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 I watched and listened to have of the Ben Carson speech. maybe all the good stuff is in the second half. I plan to watch both in the near future. Quote I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs. Frederick Douglass
fccool Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I think it's largely due to anti-Obama sentiments that the conservative media harbors. I think it's very easy to do what Carson did... to beat a guy on the ground trying to get up to feel great about certain beliefs. To stick it to the guy. What's much harder to do is actually walk in president's shoes, which I don't think Carson could handle really well. Obama has to deal with real problems. Pointing that there is a problem is a not a solution of the problem. There is no easy solution for US debt situation. And, for goodness sakes - Congress lifts the debt ceiling, not the president. President is given too much credit for economic failures or success. There are many economic things that presidents can't control and are at the mercy of the legislative branch. Quote
