If you had had contact with a large number of homosexuals, you would know that there is NOT one "gay lifestyle". There are actually as many lifestyles among gays as there are among heterosexuals.

It can truthfully be said that the lifestyle of some homosexuals causes problems for society. The same can be said for heterosexuals. The lifestyles of some heterosexuals causes problems for society.

SDAs often live in a somewhat shelter environment. A few may work with, or socialize with a very few homosexuals. But, few actually have any exposure to the range in lifestyles that exist within the homosexual community. In reality, few really are aware of the range in lifestyles that exists in ther heterosexual community.

What makes me think that I have such knowledge? Valid question.

1) For several years I worked in an experimental program, funded and run by a group of local hospitals, designed to provide services to HIV+ people. The majority of these, not all, were male homosexuals. Some were SDA in background. I related to them. I eat meals with them each week. I became aquainted with their lifestyle, and what is available in the world of the "clubs". Out of this, I became aware of marked differences in lifestyle and behavior.

2) As to heterosexual lifestyle: In the area where I live, there is an independent, counter-culture, award-winning weekly newspaper published, and distributed free of charge. I refer to WESTWOOD, for those of you who may want to check it out. I read it becasue it does "investigative journalism", and has published major articles that claim to expose wrong doing in areas that are of interest to me--the organization that employes me, and the Seventh-day Adventist Chruch. Beleive me, these articles are carefully documented, well written, and very lengthy.

NOTE: It used to run a weekly column that made fun of Christians, and often picked on the SDA Church. I brought this to the attention of the General Conference as it typically used materials copyrighted by the SDA Chruch to make fun of us.

WESTWOOD is a force to be reconed with in this area. But, in advertising, and editorial policy, it is clearly counter-culture. Out of this, I have become much more aware of the differences in lifestyle that exist within the heterosexual community.

Just for the record; a local newspaper here, the other day quoted a poll that said 2/3 majority was actually opposed to gay marriage legislation. I have the newspaper here in my office; and can supply a specific reference later; but it is not a very fair characterization to say that truth doesn't matter to me. I only meant that polls do vary, and that bevin was out of line with reality for his remarks of "truth" to me.
