cricket Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Is this happening to all of you of just me? what used to be on the right is now on the left and I can only see half that is on the left. I can't see everything that is posted and I can't even click on reply and I can't see the page numbers etc etc I'm having no trouble at all seeing the whole forum. In fact, I see more of the forum now that I was able to see before. Everything that used to be on the right is now on the left, and I can see all of that. I'm replying to this after hitting the "quote" response option. I'm able to see the page numbers for all forums as well. For what it's worth, the browser I'm using is Google Chrome, and I have an oversized monitor for viewing. My settings to view the site at the bottom of the page is "ubbthreads". Hope that helps! Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted February 20, 2013 Members Posted February 20, 2013 Sky, I'm using Chrome and have the same issue as you're having. The left hand column is taking about 1/3 of my page. A definite "thumbs down"... Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Gibs Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I can see it all with a 20 inch monitor, the things did change to left side and now this box to reply in is bigger and deep. I tried pasting in what I had in my word processor, but if you do that, get full reply box as this one goofs up and you can't scroll up or down, but the full feature reply box works fine. I use internet explorer and Norton 360, keeps computer tuned and lets nothing through that will upset your computer. Mine today is an old win 7 computer, somtimes a much older XP computer. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. skyblue888 Posted February 20, 2013 Author Posted February 20, 2013 It shouldn't matter what computer or server we are using. Everything was fine before no matter what server I used. Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.

Members phkrause Posted February 20, 2013 Members Posted February 20, 2013 joeb was having some concerns also and had started a thread, I also had made a comment and Stan mentioned that he did change things around. One reasons was that things loaded easier with all the ads on the left! I don't seem to be having the exact same problem, but it is not better than before for me either. joeb Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Sky, I'm using Chrome and have the same issue as you're having. The left hand column is taking about 1/3 of my page. A definite "thumbs down"... It's probably a browser incompatibility issue in the site code as each browser has specific quirks that have to be taken into consideration in the site's code. This is one reason a lot of site developers dislike the proliferation of browsers. It was much easier for them when all they had to code for was a MS browser. Try Firefox and the issue will most likely go away as that's what I use and I don't have your issues. Administrators Gail Posted February 20, 2013 Administrators Posted February 20, 2013 I use IE at one computer and Safari at home and it's working at all 3 for me- XP, iMac and iPad. joeb Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I use IE at one computer and Safari at home and it's working at all 3 for me- XP, iMac and iPad. I've used multiple browsers here too, but never Chrome. I'd bet on this issue being related to something in how Chrome handles the code as it is written. I'm not a developer by any stretch of the imagination, but do know a little about how this works as I've done some system administration for a commercial web site. When a browser contacts a site the site asks for information about the browser. The browser tells it. The site code then takes that answer and runs it through a check list that, greatly simplified, says OK, here's what browser is asking to access the site so this is the code I'll feed to it. The browsers see most of the code the same way, but not all of it, so this can be a difficult thing to find and most of this type of problem comes from someone having a certain version of a browser that the site developer either inadvertently overlooked, or the browser is newer than the site code so the developer couldn't check for it. This is actually a fairly common problem. Quote Liberty cannot be established without morality, nor morality without faith.Alexis de Tocqueville
Ted Oplinger Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Using Chrome, Windows 8, and an oversized monitor...no issues other than ads and shoutbox went to the left hand side... Only issue I've noted that irks me is the lack of red numbers to show me new posts in the threads I follow... Blessings, Quote "As iron sharpens iron, so also does one man sharpen another" - Proverbs 27:17 "The offense of the cross is that the cross is a confession of human frailty and sin and of inability to do any good thing. To take the cross of Christ means to depend solely on Him for everything, and this is the abasement of all human pride. Men love to fancy themselves independent. But let the cross be preached, let it be made known that in man dwells no good thing and that all must be received as a gift, and straightway someone is offended." Ellet J. M. T. Cross Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I am using Chrome and have no problem other than I am using a tiny 15" CRT monitor right now as my old one died and I have to scroll over a bit to see everything. Of course I used to have to do that to see the chat box when it was on the other side. Thing is, as Stan explained in the other thread, is that there is an indication that people click on the ads more if they are on the left hand side of the page. Those ad clicks help support the site, which I think we are all aware costs money to keep up. If this is what is needed to help keep this wonderful service up and running for us, I think we can all take the hit and learn to get used to it. Either that or Stan can start hounding people for cash. I think the latter would likely be much more annoying and would bring cries of injustice and money grubbing from those that think everything in life is free. Maybe if we all pledged to click those ads once a day? Quote
