_____________than just a momentary lack of judgement when censorship by the thought police is used to justify shutting up varied reasoning for revealing the major events leading to a rapid end of this world's journey to eternity. Every respectable form of united organization for the benefit of mankind is being attacked by those in responsible positions within the organizations themselves, and the solution often found that allows the chipping away to continue is to shut the mouth of the ones waving the red flags.

Seems I know of a book that reveals that as the continuing work of the dragon.

California Student Catches Alleged Thief on Camera: A Teacher

ABC News

By Christina Ng | ABC News

Quote:
A California high school student was shocked at what she found when she decided to play detective and stop a string of thefts from backpacks during gym class.

Justine Betti said she decided to hide in a locker to see if she could catch the thief in action. She didn’t expect the alleged culprit to be her gym teacher.

After all of the students left the locker room, the teacher stayed behind, rummaged through backpacks and took money, Betti said.

“Something needed to be done. That’s not okay,” she told ABC News’ Sacramento affiliate KXTV. Betti is a sophomore at Linden High School in Linden, Calif., about 60 miles southeast of Sacramento.

Betti decided to hide in the locker again — this time, with a cellphone camera to record what she saw. She set up a second camera in another locker to get two angles.

Once again, she said she saw the teacher go through the bags. Her video shows someone digging through the bags, and one video appears to show the person taking something out of a pink duffel bag.

“I didn’t want to believe that she would do something like that because she was so nice, but then she did it,” Betti said. “It was really scary. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh. I can’t believe I just got this on video.’”

Betti said she kept watching it “over and over” and eventually took the video to her principal with some friends.

“He said that he’ll investigate it and he told us to delete the video, but I had already sent it to my dad,” she said.

If this were happening at my son's school, the first question I would ask him would be: why weren't you using the lockers for their intended purpose--locking up one's belongings?

Seems to be a reasonable question to ask. Not sure anyone with authority to set down the rules would be that concerned as to feel it necessary to add another rule in order to make the obvious solution workable.

Hmmm.... That sounds remarkably like "blame the victim". An authority figure is stealing so blame the kid for catching him and those who didn't lock up their belongs for having their things stolen by a thief.

You ask me, that attitude is one that has a lot to do with those with no moral compass no longer being held responsible for their actions.

It does sound as if the students "entrapped" the poor teacher.

Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this.

Yes, it does. They did it the same way the guy who suspected his babysitter of abusing his kids did. They all photographed/caught_on_tape the evidence. How mean....

Does it? Is that what it sounds like to you? Or, does it sound like a mother who wants to know why her son isn't using his assigned locker, and who leaves his backpack where anyone can get to it? Because, that's what it sounds like to me.

And, I did say it would be the FIRST question I would ask. I didn't say it would be the ONLY question I would ask.

I never said the students were at fault. But, I will say that any high school kid who leaves his/her stuff out is being negligible with their belongings. We've had lockers and locker rooms in high schools for decades. Thievery is a known problem and high schools everywhere provide at least this one reasonable means of deterrance.

The thief is in the wrong and should be penalized for it.

Now, back to your statement...

Are you suggesting that a person with "my attitude" is someone who does not have a moral compass and that I am not someone who holds myself and others responsible for actions?

Are you suggesting that?

If you are, then I will continue this discussion. But you need to say it, in clear type, with no ambiguity or vagueness.

Say it.

Cricket,

First of all, I had no idea you are a mother. I had no clue as to your gender one way or the other. That might have clued me in as to where you were coming from though.

Am I suggesting that someone with "your attitude" has no moral compass? Absolutely not. I don't know how you took that from my post. The people I was referring to as having no moral compass are those like the thief in this instance.

The way I see things no matter how negligent someone is in taking care of something, you know, like inadvertently leaving something out where others might take it, or maybe just showing such horrific judgment as trusting people, is never a justification for theft, or for holding that horribly flawed person who left their possessions unguarded responsible for the actions of someone with no moral compass. The person responsible for the theft is the thief, period. No one else. To hold someone else responsible for a thief's actions is to let the thief off the hook, at least in my point of view. To blame anyone else is sort of like cutting off my nose to spite my face. I mean why add guilt to what is already a burden on a kid's disappointment and knowledge that he/she screwed up and left something where it might be stolen? Makes no sense at all to me.

So, do I disagree with your point of view? Yup. Do I think you're some horribly flawed person with no redeeming value? Nope. I'm not even mad at you for disagreeing with me. bwink

I have to agree with that.

That's what I'm stressing to my teenage kids as well.

"The offense of the cross is that the cross is a confession of human frailty and sin and of inability to do any good thing. To take the cross of Christ means to depend solely on Him for everything, and this is the abasement of all human pride. Men love to fancy themselves independent. But let the cross be preached, let it be made known that in man dwells no good thing and that all must be received as a gift, and straightway someone is offended." Ellet J.
