tribeofjudah Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 This is a dangerous teaching that I see many Sunday morning preachers talk about. The bible does not teach this. YOU can choose to backslide after accepting Christ. God does not force your love and allegiance. Preached Joseph Prince was talking about Jesus' blood has forgiving our sins: past, present, future.... This is the danger in that IF misunderstood, humans think that they can continue living in sin after accepting Christ. (we are new, for the former has passed away). This speaks to the Once saved, always saved teaching... Very dangerous. What say you? Sorry Mods, I could not find a previous thread on this subject in the search box. Quote
Ted Oplinger Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 OSAS? In a word, no. If God would deny free will, why crucify the Son of God first, then do it? Why not go all the way back to the beginning with the one who would rebel from being God's covering cherub, eliminate free will from all the angelic host, and not have the sin issue from the outset? There is something so very important contained within free will that God would send His Son to die on the cross to uphold it. Blessings, Quote "As iron sharpens iron, so also does one man sharpen another" - Proverbs 27:17 "The offense of the cross is that the cross is a confession of human frailty and sin and of inability to do any good thing. To take the cross of Christ means to depend solely on Him for everything, and this is the abasement of all human pride. Men love to fancy themselves independent. But let the cross be preached, let it be made known that in man dwells no good thing and that all must be received as a gift, and straightway someone is offended." Ellet J. Gibs Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 For sure it happens all the time, 2Pe 2:22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ
tribeofjudah Posted March 4, 2013 Author Posted March 4, 2013 Gibs, not sure what you are trying to say....that we are forgiven for all past/present/future sins? Forgiveness of "future" sins gives rise to people doing WHATEVER they wish and disregard shunning the Holy Spirit. If we ABIDE and stay rooted in Christ, then YES, we will always be saved. If, by choice, we turn our backs on Christ and walk away.........forget about it. I think that preachers today stop short and DONT explain this in detail. Quote

Wrong, it is presumptuous of your knowledge to say that about others. Christ died once, for all mankind, He will not die again. Just because a person jumps out of the lifeboat does not mean the lifeboat is forever gone. I have never heard anyone 'preach' that because God saved us, we can now do what ever we want. That is a tar brush used to discredit those who truly find joy in saying "I am Saved". Quote
tribeofjudah Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 Aspen, did you read the rest of my post? OK, it "may" give rise to..... (is that better) If a person says "I am saved"....well good for him. Let's hope his life exhibits it. I've heard a few say, "I was saved back in 1986"......yet any ole Joe can see that his life is NOT aligned with Christ. I'm not passing judgement, God the Righteous Judge will do that.... Salvation must be reflected in our daily lives. What's your answer to OSAS? Quote
Gibs Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Many who have once come to salvation return to their old wallowing in sin as bad and many times far worse than before they were saved. So I posted the verse, 2Pe 2:22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. This is taught by a lot of ministers. They preach that once you say the right words you're saved, period. You can't jump out of the lifeboat even if you want to. According to them you can live a life completely opposed to God's principles after saying the magic words and you're still saved. I've heard some of them go so far as to say you could get to the point of being so degraded by sin that you're an unrepentant serial murderer and it wouldn't matter. At some point in your past you've said the words, the sinner's prayer, so your destiny is set from that point on. Woody Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 We all are saved .... it is our choice to accept that or not. We will always be saved .... again it is up to us to accept it or not. Being saved once is enough. Christ does not have to die again. But again .... it is our choice to accept that or not. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Samie Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Contingent upon the death of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the cross, here are the THREE (3) Tenses of Salvation: PAST TENSE: NKJ Ephesians 2:5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), NKJ Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God NKJ 2 Timothy 1:9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began NKJ Ephesians 2:13-17 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14 For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, 15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, 16 and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. 17 And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. NAS Colossians 2:13 And when you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions KJV Hebrews 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. PRESENT TENSE: NKJ 1 Corinthians 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. NKJ 2 Corinthians 2:15 For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. NKJ 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. KJV Romans 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification. NKJ Hebrews 10:16-17 16 "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them," 17 then He adds, "Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more." FUTURE TENSE: NKJ Matthew 10:22 "And you will be hated by all for My name's sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved. NKJ Matthew 24:13 "But he who endures to the end shall be saved. NKJ Romans 2:5-6 5 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, 6 who "will render to each one according to his deeds": KJV Matthew 16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. NAS Revelation 22:12 "Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done. OSAS is applicable ONLY to the past and present tenses of salvation: NOT to the future tense. The past tense of salvation caused the writing of our names in the book of life from the foundation of the world and on the cross, be attached to the Body of Christ Who is our Strength for overcoming evil with good. The present tense of salvation - continual non-imputation of sins committed - causes our names to remain written in the book of life while alive. At death, judgment is rendered. And only overcomers will not be blotted out from it. The future tense of salvation - giving of reward according to what each has done: overcomers will inherit life eternal; all others, the wrath of God and finally, thrown in the lake of fire. see Rom 2:5-11; Rev 20:15; 21:27. LifeHiscost Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 YOU can choose to backslide after accepting Christ. God does not force your love and allegiance. Preached Joseph Prince was talking about Jesus' blood has forgiving our sins: past, present, future.... Very dangerous. What say you? It could be true if one's future sins were admitted to and repented of before the harvest. The danger lies in accepting what is called normal bias to a dissolute life. IOW what happened today is what will happen tomorrow. That could lead to this judgement as a result of the voice of the Holy Spirit being avoided until one could no longer hear His pleading. 31"Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven. 32"Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come. "Harvest is past, summer is ended, And we are not saved." 22Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then has not the health of the daughter of my people been restored?....Jeremiah 8 …10And he said to me, "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near. 11"Let the one who does wrong, still do wrong; and the one who is filthy, still be filthy; and let the one who is righteous, still practice righteousness; and the one who is holy, still keep himself holy." 12"Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done.…Rev 22 God is Love!
