Sojourner Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Does the Seventh Day Adventist Church allow members of the masonic lodge to be members of the church? My brother in law is a mason and he wants to come along with me to the SDA but I am aware that many Christian groups dislike Freemasons, where does the SDA stand on this issue? Quote
Administrators debbym Posted March 31, 2013 Administrators Posted March 31, 2013 welcome your brother-in-law to come with you. he can learn and see and make his decision if there is any conflict for him with God and freemasonry. Like i said anything can become something we place above God. I am sure your family member would want to know how Much God loves Him and what great blessings God has for his life. Let God speak to his heart. Quote deb Love awakens love. Let God be true and every man a liar.
olger Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Sure, if they leave Masonry and join the remnant. Love to have them! Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."

Ted Oplinger Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Does the Seventh Day Adventist Church allow members of the masonic lodge to be members of the church? My brother in law is a mason and he wants to come along with me to the SDA but I am aware that many Christian groups dislike Freemasons, where does the SDA stand on this issue? I won't go into a campaign against masonry here. Your brother will have to compare Scripture with Scripture and decide for himself if Remnant Faith and freemasonry are compatible. Coming from a family where my mother's side participated deeply in freemason organizations, my own personal take is that they are not. That said, my convictions are not yours, nor your brother's - you both need to weigh the evidence for yourselves. Personally - I believe there will come a point where you and your brother will face a choice on this: whether to hold fast to the specific Word of God, or deny the plain meaning of the Word and remain loyal to freemasonry. Blessings, Quote "As iron sharpens iron, so also does one man sharpen another" - Proverbs 27:17 "The offense of the cross is that the cross is a confession of human frailty and sin and of inability to do any good thing. To take the cross of Christ means to depend solely on Him for everything, and this is the abasement of all human pride. Men love to fancy themselves independent. But let the cross be preached, let it be made known that in man dwells no good thing and that all must be received as a gift, and straightway someone is offended." Ellet J. Waggoner, The Glad Tidings "Courage is being scared to death - and saddling up anyway" - John Wayne "The person who pays an ounce of principle for a pound of popularity gets badly cheated" - Ronald Reagan

Sojourner Posted April 3, 2013 Author Posted April 3, 2013 Thank you for your answers, but I do have that original question remaining as unanswered, can a Freemason become a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church? Quote

Although I do believe the SDA will not turn anyone away, sister White did provide a stern warning against joining the Freemasons. http://www.whiteestate.org/books/bhp/bhpc08.html Much research has been dedicated to the Freemasons, and much are in agreement that the Freemasons are actually controlled by the Jesuits. Dr. Walter Veith provides a wonderful expose on the subject in his Total Onslaught series "Secret Behind Secret Socities". Madam Blavatsky the famed occultist also stated the following: “We owe a place to the Jesuits in this chapter on secret societies, for more than any other they are a secret body, and have a far closer connection with actual Masonry — in France and Germany at least — than people are generally aware of.If you trace up Masonry, through all its Orders, till you come to the grand tip-top head Mason of the World, you will discover that the dread individual and the Chief of the Society of Jesus [i.e., the Superior General of the Jesuit Order] are one and the same person.” Isis Unveiled by Helena Blavatsky Quote

Yes, joining the Freemason's, but not against coming to Jesus. Total agreement. SDA would never turn away a person, yet becoming a member is a different issue. I have never met an Adventist Freemason in all of my 38 years of being an SDA member. Quote
M. T. Cross Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Actually, you very well might have Texus, most Freemasons are not very forthcoming about it. Quote
nuff sed Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 I haven't found that " not being a Free-mason" (nor even a Jesuit) is anywhere listed as being 'a test of fellowhip'.... We do have, however, counsel against membership in 'secret societies'. Nuff Sed Quote
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted April 5, 2013 Moderators Posted April 5, 2013 Quote: Sure, if they leave Masonry and join the remnant. Love to have them! EGW gave stern warnings against remaining a member. However, it is not a test of fellowship. I was once the pastor of a SDA church where a 32nd degree Mason had been a member for years. He remained a member as he never did anything that violated the standards to be a member. We wanted to continue to encourage him in his faith. Quote Gregory
