Pope Praises SDAs and Offers EGW Beautification

Under the subtitle "UNDER WHICH BANNER," which immediately follows the subtitle "IN THE TRACK OF ROMANISM," the Holy Spirit says,

"Satan's skill is exercised in devising plans and methods without number to accomplish his purposes. Dissimulation has become a fine art with him, and he works in the garb of an angel of light. God's eye alone discerns his schemes to contaminate the world with false and ruinous principles bearing on their face the appearance of genuine goodness. He works to restrict religious liberty and to bring into the religious world a species of slavery. Organizations, institutions, unless kept by the power of God, will work under Satan's dictation to bring men under the control of men; and fraud and guile will bear the semblance of zeal for truth and for the advancement of the kingdom of God. Whatever in our practice is not as open as day belongs to the methods of the prince of evil. His methods are practiced even among Seventh-day Adventists who claim to have advanced truth." T.M.366. (1895)

All should now be able to see that this is what it means to follow in the track of Romanism.

The following year, 1896, Mrs. White wrote the following to brother Olsen:

"The same work that has been done in the past will be carried forward under the guise of the General Conference Association. The sacred character of this association is fast disappearing. Who will then be respected as pure, holy, and undefiled? Will there be any voice that God's people can respect as a voice to be respected? There certainly is nothing now that bears the divine credentials. Who can now feel sure that they are safe in respecting the voice of the General Conference Association? Much pride and loftiness, and a spirit which desires to rule, has been manifested; but very little of the Spirit which leads men to sit at the feet of Jesus and learn of Him, has been shown. Human inventions and human plans are eclipsing sacred things, and excluding divine instructions. Men are taking the place of God in seeking to assume authority over their fellowmen." E.G. White, Letter to Elder O.A. Olsen, May 31, 1896.

In the book Prophets & Kings, the Holy Spirit makes a direct parallel between Ancient Israel in the days of prophet Elijah and our time.

"The apostasy of today is similar to that which in the prophet's day overspread Israel. In the exaltation of the human above the divine, in the praise of popular leaders... multitudes are following after Baal... God has many thousands who have not bowed the knee to Baal... and there are many who have been worshiping Baal ignorantly, but with whom the Spirit of God is still striving." P.K.170-171.

"With many the cry of the heart has been, 'We will not have this Man reign over us.' Baal, Baal, is the choice. The religion of many among us will be the religion of apostate Israel, because they love their own way, and forsake the way of the Lord." T.M.467-468. (1890)

In 1907 the Holy Spirit sent this solemn warning:

"Unless you cease the work of making man amenable to man, unless you become humble in heart, and yourselves learn the way of the Lord as little children, the Lord will divorce you from His work." T.M.481.

This work of making man amenable to man, the religion of apostate Israel, the religion of Baal, (repeating the follies of Israel; following in the track of Romanism) has not ceased. On the contrary. The Holy Spirit has warned us that it would develop and increase and wax stronger and that it will continue to do so until the very end.
