Just got back from the Southern Union ASI meeting where Randy Skeete was the keynote speaker. He had some very powerful sermons on the theme "For Such a Time as this" starting with the person of God - a "God for such a time as this" and including a number of other topics that emphasized the importance of God, His Law, and the importance of accepting the Gospel where we come to God having nothing of our own, and God gives us everything in Christ - which includes the ability to walk in obedience to the Word of God.

Has anyone else here attended a meeting where Pastor Skeete was the speaker?

No, but I think I may have heard him on Audioverse.

Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

I've seen one of his sermons on the computer and it appeared that he had everything memorized, including Bible verses and any EGW quotes he gave, complete with pg. number and paragraph number. Think I've heard that he has memorized big portions of scripture. A very disciplined man it seems.

I have been wondering if this man is a genius or has a photographic memory.

I have seen him on AD TV a number of times. Never seen him look at any notes or read anything on the lectern.

That is exactly right. He ad libs and starts quoting chapter and verse - even changing his sermon at the last minute does not change the result - he can quote book, page, para for Ellen White on any subject all day long as well as the Bible.

And he does the Bible with "and now beginning with verse 2 the Bible says...." and 6 or 7 verses quote verbatim KJV -- "And now skipping down to verse 11 the Bible says" and 10 more verses verbatim.

He can do that all day long.

I was riding with him in the car the other day and asked him if he had the entire Bible memorized or was it just the memorization specific to a given sermon. He said he did not have the entire Bible memorized - however the material from memory was not specific to the sermon - it is just something he does in general.

I asked him if he knew of anyone else in our denomination doing that (because I was thinking that maybe there is another guy I should also be watching for ) -- he did not give me any other name.

Interesting!

I am going to make a point of getting together with Jim Davidson Exec Sec of Southern Union this weekened and asking him if there is a way to get more seminars in our area with Randy Skeete as the keynote speaker.

What would make memorizing the whole Bible would be 1 Chronicles!!! Just reading it is very tedious!!!

1 Chronicles is indeed hard to just read, however a Rabbi once came to Andrews and gave a talk about insights we could learn about Biblical geography and it's impact on the text using 1 Chronicles and it was fascinating!

Some texts are easy to read and listen to, others difficult to read but fascinating to have in a study situation.

It will be interesting to see if we can get him on the calendar.
