bonnie Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 The Left's Spin on Boston Marathon's Chechen Terrorists J. Robert Smith The latest go-to publication of leftist sensibility, Salon, offers a hint of what the left's spin will be on the two Chechen brothers who bombed the Boston Marathon, killing three and maiming scores. Under the headline, "Chechen Terrorism: What you need to know," Alex Seitz-Wald writes: Chechnya, a small, predominately Muslim region in the Caucuses between Georgia and the Caspian Sea in Southern Russia, has been a hotbed of separatist violence since the start of the First Chechen war in 1994 -- the same year that Tsarnaev was reportedly born. As Joshua Yaffa, a Moscow-based journalist wrote, The "whole generation knows only conflict." The Brothers Tsarnaev grew up in an environment of conflict and bloody violence, and are, therefore, victims. They are traumatized, not terrorists -- at least, not terrorists who are motivated by their Muslim faith, even if that seems apparent. Even if it's proven that they have links to Middle Eastern or other Muslim terrorist groups. The link that Seitz-Wald offers to Joshua Yaffa's Twitter in its entirety: Boston suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is 19 -- which means born in 1994, year when First Chechen War began. Whole generation knows only conflict. The Brothers Tsarnaev have been conditioned to violence and conflict; they needed early intervention and therapy, poor fellows. So, Chechnya is a breeding ground for Muslim youth who "know only conflict" and are merely acting out their heretofore suppressed hostilities. That doesn't make the Brothers Tsarnaev much different from inner-city youth in Chicago, Detroit, Newark, East St. Louis, and many other Democrat-dominated snake pits -- sorry: cities -- who "know only conflict." Inner-city violence is routinely excused and rationalized by the left, why not Muslim terrorism on the part of Chechens? The spin will come from the left once the remaining Tsarnaev brother is captured or killed. The spin will come mightily. To do otherwise would be for the left to make an admission on Muslim terrorism that would undermine its worldview, motives, and agenda. Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted April 20, 2013 Administrators Posted April 20, 2013 The whole article from Salon: FRIDAY, APR 19, 2013 12:43 PM UTC Chechen terrorism: What you need to know Islamist fighters from the region have fought a long war of independence against Russia BY ALEX SEITZ-WALD Police check luggages for explosives at railway station in Krasnoyarsk, March 31, 2010. Authorities said the blasts were linked to the North Caucasus - a string of heavily Muslim provinces that includes Chechnya (Credit: Reuters/Ilya Naymushin) After a dramatic night that included a shootout, the murder of a police officer and the death of the one of the two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing, authorities are on the hunt for remaining suspect, whom the AP identified as Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, a 19-year-old who is reportedly a Chechen national living in Cambridge, Massachusetts with his brother, the slain second suspect, for the past several years. It’s important to note that the reports of the suspects’ nationalities remain unconfirmed; however, they have Chechen surnames and a photo essay reportedly profiling the elder Tsarnaev, Tamerlan, quotes him as saying, “Originally from Chechnya, but living in the United States since five years, Tamerlan says: “I don’t have a single American friend, I don’t understand them.” Chechen terrorism may be less familiar to most Americans than that carried out by fighters from the Middle East or Afghanistan and Pakistan, but Chechen separatists have fought a long and bloody war against Russia in the region’s long war of independence from Moscow. Chechnya, a small, predominately Muslim region in the Caucuses between Georgia and the Caspian Sea in Southern Russia, has been a hotbed of separatist violence since the start of the First Chechen war in 1994 — the same year that Tsarnaev was reportedly born. As Joshua Yaffa, a Moscow-based journalist wrote, The “whole generation knows only conflict.” While the Russian military fought a brutal “dirty war” against Islamic fighters in the region that reportedly included extrajudicial disappearances and killings, Islamist terrorists carried out a campaign of terror and violence against innocent Russian civilians all over the country. Dokka Umarov, an Islamist Chechen separatist leader, is one of Russia’s most wanted men and has earned the name of “Russia’s Osama Bin Laden” for his involvement in numerous attacks. Al Qaeda has also been loosely tied to Chechen terror groups. Violence has calmed more recently and Chechnya has seen rapid economic growth. Moscow officially ended its counterterrorism operations in the region in 2009. In 2001, three Chechens hijacked a Russian airline with 174 people on board and forced it to land in Saudi Arabia, where commandos stormed the plane and freed over 100 hostage. In 2002, some 50 Chechen militants seized a theater in Moscow, taking 850 hostages and demanding the withdrawal of Russian forces from their region. At least 130 hostages died when Russian authorities pumped in knock out gas in an attempt to drive out the terrorists, but ended up killing civillians as well. In early September 2004, militants sent by Chechen separatist leader Shamil Basayev took over a grade school in a nearby autonomous region of Russia. After three days and a botched raid by Russian forces, at least 385 were killed and over 700 wounded, including numerous children. In 2010, at least 40 people were killed and 100 injured when terrorists bombed two Moscow Metro stations. Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted April 20, 2013 Administrators Posted April 20, 2013 Now after reading the article that Mr. Smith was commenting about, who is doing the spinning? Members phkrause Posted April 20, 2013 Members Posted April 20, 2013 Why, who cares Tom? Spin what spin? Oh that's right the one that said that Obama was hiding 2 Saudi Nationals somewhere in the WH and when he gets the chance will sent them home to the middle east. Oh that's right it wasn't Saudi's that did the bombing and killing at the Marathon, it was actually 2 guys from Chechnea. I kept waiting for the Saudi's to show up, but darn it, after it was all over it was still 2 Chechnians after all. One shot by those bully police officers and the other ripped out of his hiding place, in a boat that I'm guessing the spin will say he thought would take him back to his real homeland. Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted April 20, 2013 Administrators Posted April 20, 2013 This explains all of this right wing confusion and spinning... Study: Majority Of Americans Not Informed Enough To Stereotype Chechens NEWS IN BRIEF • Breaking News: Boston • News • ISSUE 49•16 • Apr 19, 2013 WASHINGTON—Following FBI reports this morning that the suspects implicated in Monday’s Boston Marathon bombing are of Chechen descent, efforts to thoughtlessly stereotype the alleged terrorists were impeded by the majority of Americans’ lack of basic knowledge about Chechnya or the Chechen people, a new study has confirmed. “Our research shows that, while many Americans would like nothing more than to make sweeping, insensitive generalizations about these two individuals based purely on their ethnic identity, this process is largely impeded by the fact that 9 out of 10 Americans truly know next to nothing about Chechnya, including even the very barest details of what or where Chechnya is,” said lead researcher Dr. Tim Kinane, adding that a majority of American citizens are almost totally unaware of Chechen history and culture, how to locate Chechnya on a map, whether Chechnya is a country or a city or a region, or that a person from Chechnya is called a Chechen. “Clinical trials show that most individuals will make brief, fumbling attempts to stereotype Chechens based on what little they know about Russians, but eventually drop the subject entirely after running out of anything to say within seconds.” Kinane’s team was able to confirm, however, that once research subjects were told Chechnya is a predominantly Muslim region, they were “usually pretty good to go from there.” http://www.theonion.com/articles/study-majority-of-americans-not-informed-enough-to,32124/ Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." Ted Oplinger Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 I would think that after this, many Americans will think of Chechens the same way many in Russia do - a Muslim people willing to regard no one's life to be of value, save their own people. Blessings, Quote "As iron sharpens iron, so also does one man sharpen another" - Proverbs 27:17 "The offense of the cross is that the cross is a confession of human frailty and sin and of inability to do any good thing. To take the cross of Christ means to depend solely on Him for everything, and this is the abasement of all human pride. Men love to fancy themselves independent. But let the cross be preached, let it be made known that in man dwells no good thing and that all must be received as a gift, and straightway someone is offended." Ellet J.
