Gordon1 Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Isn't it true that Ellen W was given ministerial credentials? I have a copy of such a document. Is it bogus? Interesting. . . . hmm Ellen White was given many things she didn't want and didn't ask for: •cold-hearted rejection by the leadership & Battle Creek Church (which she states brought her husband to an early grave in 1881). •Editorial interference in her work by the five-man committee formed in 1883. •Good riddance wishes by the GC in sending her to Australia (1891-1900) ("I saw no light in this"). Ever receive a pre-approved credit card you didn't want or ask for? No real prophet requires a piece of paper or human approval to work for God. Quote
Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted May 18, 2013 Author Administrators Posted May 18, 2013 That is a misleading answer to arnie's question, Gordon. Ellen White was in fact issued ordained minster credentials for many years, from about 1887 until her death. She was listed in the official records of the General Conference as an ordained minster. Prior to those years she had been listed as a licensed minster only. She accepted them and the pay of an ordained minster during those years. That is significant because in those days an ordained minster got paid more than a licensed minster, many of whom were not paid at all. Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)
