Trouble is, Laz, Rush didn't create the Republican platform. Rush, Sean, Mark, et. al., didn't have much to do with the Republican platform at all. 95% of the Republican platform came courtesy of the "moderate" wing of the Party...you know, the ones you think so highly of, Laz? Given the choice between Democrat and Democrat Lite - of course, Mitt lost at the finish line. When Mitt surged ahead in the polls, was when he acted...conservative. When he stopped talking/acting conservative, and went squishy, get-along moderate, he stank - and sank. The GOP is crippled only as they want to be friends with the media and the Democrats, little realizing, neither of these is returning the favor. Are you saying that talk radio has no influence in the party? How do you know so much about talk radio? You don't listen to it. If Talk Radio's influence was as great as you and Geraldo insinuate it to be.....Talk Radio's influence would have been reflected in the party platform being much more conservative. Trouble is, Geraldo wouldn't know what true conservatism is, even if it slapped him upside the face a few times...and neither would you. The GOP establishment doesn't get conservatism, nor are they greatly influenced by Talk Radio...but it's a great talking point that gets bandied around by the Left and their Media hacks to make people think the GOP is. The platform has become more conservative, perhaps not as much as you would like but there has certainly been a shift. Again, you may not be getting the full picture because you don't listen to talk radio. Conservatives must take some responsibility for something sometime, somewhere. I think the GOP establishment sees right wing conservatism as a losing proposition. I think they get it but just to like it. Conservative need to stop whining and move on. Perhaps as Rush said the GOP is dead. time to form a new party. This is exciting.
