Dr. Shane Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 Policeman kills U.S. tourist in northern Mexico I put "tourist" in quotation marks because I have been to Ciudad Juarez and the tourist section is close to the bridge. I suspect this American was over there on business, as there are lots of American factories in Juarez or that she was over there for other reasons like to buy illegal drugs of to visit family. I also doubt it was a tourist because most tourists wouldn't try to evade a check point. However an American that makes regular trips over there would be much more likely to try and avoid a check point. With all the drug wars going on the police are on edge and being very cautious. Now is not the time to try and play games with the authorities. It is a very good rule to always be submissive to the police - espeacially when traveling in another country.
Quote:
A Mexican policeman shot the woman as she drove in a pick-up truck early on Saturday morning with two companions near the industrial city of Ciudad Juarez, across the border from El Paso, Texas, said Chihuahua state spokesman Fernando Sandoval... Several police officers had surrounded the pick-up, which had apparently tried to evade a checkpoint.

Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Ron Lambert Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 I wonder why they opened fire. She must have said something. You should never be snotty to someone carrying a gun, especially if they are policemen who are apt to be sensitive to any sign of disrespect to their authority. Quote
