JoeMo Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 I've been thinking about this lately. I guess I spend 10 - 12 hours a week in this site. That is more time than I spend doing public religion anywhere else combined. I have what I consider to be more "personal relationships on this site than I have at other churches. Plus, they are from all over the world and of every faith! All unified in the pursuit of spiritual food and fellowship with like-minded (and not so like minded) people! I guess that makes Club Adventist my home church! Quote
BobRyan Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 In that case - by that standard -- there is a certain Baptist organization - that is my "home church" Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." COL 316.
Administrators Gail Posted May 5, 2013 Administrators Posted May 5, 2013 There are quite a few members who have called C/A their home church over the years. I have tossed the idea around of having an actual church service here on Sabbath... It might be a good time to collect thoughts on that. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Naomi Posted May 5, 2013 Administrators Posted May 5, 2013 During the 20+ years that I was always in a different area on Sabbath I often used C/A as my home-away-from-home Home Church. It was/is most appreciated. I also have wondered how an actual church service would work ... however, all of my good ideas hit a brick wall: Difference in theory and pratice. Gail could probably find a way to pull it off. Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
Liz Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 At different times I have thought about this place as my home church, it seemed like I found more "like-minded" Christians here, than in the building that I was attending. Now, I am very happy and pleased with the church family that I have currently in "real life", but love and cherish the "family" and friends I have here also. Quote For what will a man be profited, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? Mat. 16:26Please, support the JDRF and help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. Please, support the March of Dimes.
Moderators Bravus Posted May 5, 2013 Moderators Posted May 5, 2013 To the extent that I have one, yeah, probably. I don't really think of it that way, though. I have 3-4 online homes: this place, a Facebook group for ex-SDAs that contains mostly but not entirely Aussies, the William Gibson Board, Netrider (a motorbike forum) and a forum I run myself for my students and other interested people. This place is the second-oldest and the one on which I've made the second-most posts, after the WGB... Quote Truth is important
Members phkrause Posted May 5, 2013 Members Posted May 5, 2013 If I recalled correctly, didn't the original "official" SDA forum have a SS classroom for shut-ins and those that couldn't find a church nearby or to far to drive? I know some that when 3ABN, LLBN, etc. came around they could watch! Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Stan Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Am not sure I would call it my church, but I love this community. It has played a nice part of my life and has filled a gap that I would have had otherwise. Now that we are getting enough ad income to cover the expenses it does not have the stress it used to have for me. Thanks for all who faithfully help out. Moderators Nan Posted May 5, 2013 Moderators Posted May 5, 2013 It has never been a church for worship for me, but certainly as a Christian community giving mutual support, yes. I have 'known' people here for more than 13 years now and that is a significant part of my aged, adult life.:) Quote
Stan Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 In reflection, that past 13 years would have been significant different with out this. I so appreciate the members here. It has been good to me. JoeMo Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 AMEN to almost all responses! You echo what I mean. CA has made a significant positive impact on my spiritual life. Thank you all for your fellowship! Quote
TruthSeeker123 Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I wouldn't call it my home church but I do find it fitting to commune with all of you on a Sabbath. I'm hoping that the more integrated I become in this community, the more time I will spend on here whenever I am online. Quote
