Wow. If he's great, how the standards of defining greatness have fallen. Deceit and pettiness now seem to be seen as the standards of greatness.

Hmmm... Did you read the article?

Don't think those traits were or are the standard of greatness in anyone's mind, nor that of the author as reflected in the article. If they are standards of greatness, Dick Cheney is hands down the absolute greatest vice-president in American history. And by association at the very least, the man who placed and kept him in that position was a truly great president...

Yeah, I read the article. I don't agree with it. What I see in Obama is completely at odds with the hero worship I see written there.

Disagreeing with what he has done is quite different from disagreeing that he has accomplished it. Success is measured by the later and not the former.

What has Obama accomplished? He's run up the nations debt by 50% in 4 years after saying Bush's relatively small growth in the debt was unconstitutional. He's grown government by leaps and bounds. He's taken over 1/6 of the US economy. He's accomplished, by presidential order, the ability to kill or indefinitely detain US citizens without due process.

Shall I go on? I can you know. And you call this a "great" president? I'd say he's a megalomaniac and tin pot tyrant.

Shall we compare him to his immediate predecessor? On those very same issues?

Instead of asking reduntant questions, why don't you, and everyone in this country, compare Obama, and the rest of the Presidents, to what the founders wanted for this country, along with how they do or don't follow the constitution.

I'd say that's an excellent question. As this countries morality continues to decline and the people continue to get the government involved with every aspect of life, the thin line of church and state will get more and more obscure or hazy.

His immediate predecessor was Barack Obama. Before that it was Bush,who he has followed and doubled down on all the bad ideas Bush had.

Are you afraid that Obama cannot stand on his own merits? The topic title is

Obama Is a Great President. Not Obama is a great president compared to .........

Hopefully Obama can wear his own big boy pants and keep them up all by himself

Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this.

Quote:

The problem is somewhat assuaged by those who admit the burden is bigger than they are able to carry. The last presidents I recall who admitted openly of their need beyond themselves was Reagan and Carter. President Reagan admitted he gathered people around himself who knew how to handle the problems he was asked to accomplish. Wiser than some yet less than totally truthful even though he was probably honest in his belief.

President Jimmy Carter was the only one among any recent presidents that I recall who gave credit where credit was due and he was considered a weak president by some as a result of his truthfulness.

Requite them according to their work and according to the evil of their practices;

Requite them according to the deeds of their hands;

Repay them their recompense.

Because they do not regard the works of the Lord

Nor the deeds of His hands,

He will tear them down and not build them up.

Blessed be the Lord,

Because He has heard the voice of my supplication.

Psalm 28:4-6 NASB

The problem is that people don't really want to hear the truth, nor do they really want the right thing done. They want to hear what they themselves like and agree with without regard to truth or accuracy and want done only what they themselves want and like even if it is not right or best for all concerned.

Consequently, even if the course set by Obama proves to actually solve some problems and turn the economy around and improve healthcare, provide better national security and improved international relations, it won't matter to a segment of society that only cares about themselves and their own set of priorities. If they don't get their way, what they want, no amount of success for the rest of the country or the world will matter. They will see Obama as a complete failure just because they didn't get what they wanted.

Very mature that...

...and another thing. I have to wonder how many of accomplishments of the past presidents that are generally regarded as great/successful would meet with approval of the prevailing partisan thinking causing them to be downgraded to awful/failure status?

Except the fact that Obama is not working to turn said economy around. He is nothing but politics and the country be dam***.

I assume you think it is nothing but coincidental that the stock market is at an all time high, corporate profits are at an all time high, housing is finally climbing out of the giant hole it was in, automobile sales last month were substantially up (a good indicator of consumer confidence) and unemployment has also declined. Oh yeah, I remember! The partisan rule is that only the bad economic news is the result of the efforts of the other side and credit for all good things is to be claimed for ones own party's efforts. Never concede any success for the other guy.

And attacks upon our civil rights are at an all time high too. Along with very high unemployment when you consider the number of people underemployed and who have dropped out of the labor force altogether because they have just given up looking for work, all time high numbers of people on state and federal assistance programs, all time high deficit spending, borrowing, and the overall deficit. The borrowing of more than 40 cents of every dollar the feds spend. Oh, yes, so much to crow about under this president.

He's done such a good job. He hasn't even met with the jobs council he created for more than a year. His behavior shows his priorities. Getting people back to work is the least of his priorities. He can spend lots of time castigating Republicans, pushing gay rights, attacking religious freedom, etc... but he can't be bothered to meet with his own jobs council.

And Obamacare is really starting to kick in now. Employers are getting rid of full time employees because they can't afford to pay for medical benefits under this program. In fact the entire program is so unweildly that no one can even figure out exactly what is going to happen other than there are going to be thousands of new regulations businesses are going to have to follow. So, they will have to dedicate people to doing nothing but studying this stupid piece of legislation to they can attempt to be in compliance with it.

Obamacare is going to strangle our economy. Just watch. Oh, yes, such a great, great president. NOT.
